After being silent for a few days Gold Coast DAB is running this morning. Signal level is higher than last week but that seems to be a due to better propagation.
Still a lot lower than the commercial/community multiplex.

ABC has a pretty good dab sound to my ears and in my experience in my accomodation at the Surfers Paradise hotel I stayed at. There were lots of multipath so this is a welcome option. Although the multipath affected the commercials more so where I was.

The Gold Coast DAB has been mentioned on ABC Brisbane a couple of times that I’ve heard; mainly talking up the choice but also the sound quality. I would definitely be better for 612 AM Gold Coast listeners, both quality and reception especially in high rise buildings.

So the ABC can do it on DAB+ but can’t/won’t on FM with RDS. Boggles the mind.
Still, a good outcome and glad the GC finally has access to the national services locally.

Gold Coast National and commercial DAB on the tiny SA spectrum analyser. Brisbane DAB noted as well but very weak. Taken at Broadbeach one floor up from street level.
