Has there been any progress on the Arthurs Seat site on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne?

Happened to be in my local Aldi this afternoon and seen they still had quite a few of the Mini DAB+ radios in stock, likely cause Toowoomba doesn’t officially get DAB unless you live on the higher parts of Toowoomba like I do
Gotta say, powerful little unit for the size (salt shaker beside it for size reference)
I was expecting it to sound tiny and thought it would be good for a back-up but it is now sitting beside my Sony in the kitchen
Nice little kick to the lows on it, fills my kitchen and loungeroom with a good volume of sound
Impressed for the size and $49

Depends how big the salt shaker is! 
I Googled it and checked the Aldi website but couldn’t find that one listed anywhere to see the specs.
Does it do stereo sound with headphones and does it have FM with RDS?
No headphone jack so no stereo
Yes to FM with RDS, but no RDS2 capability

That’s the thing. Most DAB+ radio sets sold in retail stores and online today come equipped with FM as the only analogue radio band. There are only very few sets sold with all 3 radio bands equipped (DAB+/FM/AM).

I have noticed that tilting the antenna forwards (from the front of the radio) appears to improve reception in the marginal areas (Parramatta, North Rocks) but not Top Ryde.

Yes, though somewhat hamstrung by only getting one block for commercial/community use. Too many 32 kbps stations.

No wonder why Cruise sounded like crap, it’s only a 32kbps stream. I bet their main AM channel sounds better

Better than Perth. We have 60’s MUSIC, 70’s MUSIC, MMM COUNTRY, Niche Radio and NTS. Great stuff for Boomers. But we don’t have 96fm 90s, Tiktok Trending, DANCE HITS, iHeartCountry, MMM 2000s, Nova Jamz, nor Smooth 80s, better for Zoomers.

From my limited experience MMM Country has been more Gen Z / Millenial (as in newer hot country that the US stations are currently playing) than iHeartCountry
NTS is a waste of spectrum , as it’s also on in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, taking up 64kbps (48kbps EEP-2A). It would be a far better use of spectrum if it was leased to ARN or Nova.

Update on this one…especially with DAB reception.
Turns out if I get a $5 stand from Ikea, raise it a little higher, the reception improves, especially on the ABC and SBS multiplex. Much more stable.
It might also be on clearance at some Aldis.
I ended up getting two of the smaller radios from Aldi - one works alright but the sound on the other is barely audible, even at full bore, and charged up.
Yes, in marginal areas, even a few centimetres higher (sometimes lower is better too), to the left or right can make all the difference with reception.

Recently observed that the ensemble name for 9A in Brisbane is now ‘00001006’ instead of the usual ‘DAB+ Brisbane 1’.

That’s odd, looks like an error to me… a default transmitter code maybe?
