Yes, DLS says that but the audio is still Nova 90’s and have tried multiple resets.

When it first began airing (at about 10-11pm), it was playing Nova Nation music (house-like music). Strange that it is bugged now.

Is Buddha DAB+ Canberra ever coming back to Canberra DAB+?

Given that SCA have taken it off DAB everywhere, no.

As one of the myriad of LiSTNR-only stations that are only on DAB to bypass streaming royalties. Buddha (or Hard n Heavy, or Easy Hits) won’t come back to DAB across the board.

Nova does the same with Coles Radio, and the various Nova and Smooth offshoots (most notably Nova Nation, which is only on DAB in Brisbane).

A small frustration with the ABC today. There were two women’s sporting events on, the WBBL and the AFLW finals, both of which were being covered by ABC radio.

In Brisbane, 612 had the WBBL coverage and 936 had deviated from standard NewsRadio programming to carry the AFLW coverage. So all good there on analogue AM from a sport fan’s perspective.

On DAB+ though, ABC Brisbane had standard (non-sport) programming, which is usual, so ABC Sport took the WBBL coverage that was also on 612. But the DAB+ NewsRadio channel was taking the normal NewsRadio feed, not the alternative sport coverage. And yet, I could not find another ABC DAB+ channel carrying the AFLW coverage, despite the much wider array of services on offer. What ever happened to ABC Extra - didn’t they used to cover this type of event?

It’s probably a rare anomaly, but just annoying that there was no way to listen to something on DAB+ that was being carried on analogue AM. And those who’ve listened to 936AM in Brisbane would know, its coverage can be quite lacking at times, so the DAB+ alternative would have been appreciated.

Became ABC Kids Listen.

I think the problem is just that they aren’t used to being flexible with the bits - overseas it’s common to be dynamically changing those when in a scenario like this, while ABC Extra just sat there using the full amount all the time.

It’d be worth having even if it was rarely needed.

This would have also happened earlier this year, e.g. when the Ashes were on at the same time as AFL or NRL matches. The only option is to listen online via the ABC Listen app or the ABC website.

Its worth noting that the past few weeks, Saturday Grandstand and the accompanying sports it’s been broadcasting, have also been on the normal Local Radio DAB+ stations (as well as ABC Sport) - replacing the regular non-sport programming.

Listening back to Digital Saturday afternoon presenter Andrea Gibbs on October 28th (link here), she announced that her weekly show is no longer. And that sport would be heard on Saturday afternoons moving forward in its place.

Why?

That’s what digital should be about, an alternative to the analogue.

I feel sorry for Andrea whose weekend afternoons show has been axed. Hope she will stay at the ABC.

The AFLW match was on ABC Sport Extra. I heard it via the ABC Listen app.

They apparently are starting Jan 1st here in Sydney, I wonder whose spectrum they will use, and if they bring Vision 180 on air as well.

I wonder why it’s called Vision 180?

I would have thought Vision 360 would be a better name? eg. 360 degree Vision?
