“NTS” (not SEN my mistake) is a very strange station. It is a reflection of one aspect of commercial radio where the prestige of radio has deminished somewhat. That is no reflection with the people who work on radio today. I sometimes think the owners couldn’t be bothered. If that is the case close it down and allocate the bits to 2ue. I guess they couldn’t be bothered to do that either .
Sorry I don’t really follow? What is your point? What post are you replying too?
Edit: Ahh I think you mean “NTS” not “SEN”?
Wait until DRM+ is Launched, that’s When SEN will have More Stations.
I meant NTS, I will correct my post.
No need for this. How was he meant to read your mind?
Was trying to find “a guilty look” , directed at myself. Should of used maybe this one . I think I need some Emoji retraining…
yeah…
Service label for TAB Live in Melbourne has changed to TAB Lounge. Still pumping out muzak at 24kbps…
You’d think there’d be a willing buyer out there for some of RSN’s digital space - not just that bit for the TAB, but the two Carnival stations that I’ve never heard not be a simulcast of RSN, and on the minimal occasions they’d need breakaways, just one would suffice I’d have thought.
Even if not a new station, maybe SEN/3MP could pay for the excess capacity and shift Niche Radio over to it so 3MP could boost their bits a bit.
Though I wonder if TAB Lounge is that ‘RSN Extra’ is in the ratings? I’m sure there’s enough elevators out there with dab radios…
ELF radio now on air in Sydney.
I noticed in Brisbane that 4ZZZ has a stream now that simulcasts the FM service in addition to Zed Digital.
Talk about ridiculously early! No doubt it won’t be that long before Christmas Hope and the rest of them make a return as well.
Still, at least the Christmas stations are confined to DAB+ here in Australia. As per the conversations that were had in this thread last year, it’d be torture if our high rating stations (particularly since even our biggest metro markets don’t have that many commercial FM stations) were to run a Christmas format for 3 months+!
I mean it’s fair enough for commercial radio to give the usual selection of Xmas pop (Last Christmas, All I Want For Christmas Is You, Driving Home For Christmas, etc.) an occasional run during December but I really wouldn’t want the likes of WSFM or Smooth to follow in the footsteps of some popular US stations which apparently go all out with a Xmas format for over a quarter of the year!
Yes, it is a bit early. SANTA radio will most likely come on next.
ARN have 9 DAB+ channels in Sydney. MTV Sounds is still going (I hope it stays on as a permanent station). They are playing 80s to now this week and it’s very good, it’s an edgier version of Coles - great playlist.
I thought Elf Radio started in October but yes, 25th September start is three months and it is on. Same playlist so you know what you will get. Santa Radio etc have more variety.
I must admit, I am enjoying listening to Elf Radio again for some reason
Hey all, just wondering, have noticed the DAB licence for the Gold Coast looks like it starts on the 1/10. (Which is Friday?) Is that the transmission start date or is that just when the Licence is starting?
Considering to the best of my knowledge the site hasn’t been built yet, I doubt it’ll be on air tomorrow, I’m hearing it’s hoped by the end of the year, but not guaranteed, maybe early next year, late January, February possibly?
What programming is on Zed Digital?
Special Selections (automated alternative music playlist) from 0000-1800 and extra programming not on 4ZZZ 102.1 between 1800-0000.
Didn’t know whether to put this in Digital Radio or Shortwave threads but thought I’d share that DRM from the BBC comes in alright here in Melbourne on 15615khz USB using Dream decoder. It’s a bit patchy sometimes but it works. Short video here.
