Correct, he wouldn’t be allowed. Plus 2 of the judges are Melbourne based.
They could possibly do what they did last year on The Mask Singer and have the presenter, 2 judges live on a video screen from Melbourne. Magic of television.

All Stars announced on Sunrise this morning include Sam Mac, Grant Denyer, Kylie Gillies, Bridie Carter, Rickie Lee.
Don’t know why they couldn’t get JT onboard. He’s competed on the show years ago and he would qualify as an ‘All-star’.
Good list so far, looking pretty similar to the wishlists discussed in this thread a month ago.
Hopefully Ahn Do, Toni Pearen and Tim Campbell also got the call.
Fascinating experience for Grant though. Contestant (and winner) in 2006 then host 2019-2020 and now contestant again next year. Next we’ll have Amanda Keller participating next year as well.
Might be awkward, like when Ajay Rochester went from hosting The Biggest Loser, to a contestant on a celebrity weightloss show on ch9.
Anh Do would be a great get. Was a contestant in 2007. Sam Mac hasn’t been on the show.
Sam Mac is one of the “wildcards”. I would have has James tobin appear instead.
Good get in Grant Denyer.
Has David Rodan been mentioned? He was awesome.
TVT says this is now expected in 2022, which is great news. Another series this year was so unnecessary.
better programming decision, but why are they in such a rush to film it in a lockdown without an audience?
if its not going to air until 2022 surely they can wait a few more weeks to film when audiences are allowed.
It was planned to fill the void left by Australia’s Got Talent.
If the talent is available now, I suppose they have to film now.
They may not be available later, particularly when lockdowns lift.
I will watch this Sam Mac a heart of gold

That was revealed at the start of the week:
During an interview with The Australian today , James Warburton outlined that Seven’s 2022 schedule will begin with The Ashes (the men’s series will be ending by then while the women’s one will then follow), Big Bash Finals, the Winter Olympics as well as The Voice: Generations and Dancing with the Stars. He believes that line-up will give the network a much better start to the year than they had this year.
Aka. Go for the older & total people viewers. Probably a sensible strategy given the competition. Will be more successful than Holey Moley.
Full cast announcement.
Acknowledging the Ten years. Finally a mature decision.
Decent casting again - this show seems to have goodwill with its former cast.
David Rodan
You got your wish
Is Daryl still hosting this?
