Karl & Sarah back in studio this morning with special coverage of ex Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Here is a long list of still image ads (Cyclone Alfred updates) from various local and national businesses, ranging from local businesses trading in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba right down to announcements from Coles, NAB, Commbank and the ANZ, and extending to Queensland insurers RACQ and Suncorp. Took me a bit of time to find all these ads, so enjoy this long list.

QLD media conference on 7, 9 and 10. ABC main channel has dropped showing live new channel simulcast. 9 had to interrupt the morning news that was being shown live.

After listening to the ABC coverage for the last few days, there needs to be some education for both presenters and departments on how to deliver messages.
I get that messages need to be read on air verbatim bit some don’t even use inflection and is very hard to listen to. Also a lot of the messaging was very broad, to be expected. However once they finished reading all the warnings they basically started reading it all again!
Similarly with representatives from departments; they really need media people who know how to talk and deliver messages. Some of them just woffle on and on when a sharp, short and to the point message was all that was needed. Someone from Seqwater spent 10-15 mins this morning on dam levels….
It really made listening to the coverage difficult. I think they also needed to seperate NSW and Qld. Lots of time spent on both, which for 50% of the audience was mostly irrelevant.
I’m not sure what’s changed in the last few years as usually the ABC is pretty good with this sort of thing.

Autocue not working on 10 for the start; though it is mostly crosses so far.

Didn’t last long before more issues arose.
Media Watch was comparatively complimentary tonight
Commercial TV networks go all in on Cyclone Alfred coverage.
Now off again.
Also notice that 4OUR Caboolture transmitter seems to be misbehaving and spreading the signal onto the adjacent frequencies; only recent development.

Is Bay FM completely off or is it still working via streaming? I noticed when ABC Brisbane went off air it was still working via the app.
Doesn’t seems to be working on iHeart radio as well.
