It is a world filled with emotion and drama where defendants, ranging from habitual offenders to everyday citizens who have made a bad mistake, stream through the courtroom doors every day.

A 90-minute, hard-hitting crime investigation premieres Wednesday, September 27 at 7:30pm, on Foxtel’s CI.
Walkley award-winning investigative reporter Dan Box has produced this six-part vodcast documentary series for The Australian newspaper, which is now available to watch as a 90-minute special, only on Foxtel’s crime + investigation.
The Queen & Zak Grieve tells the story of a young Indigenous man convicted of murder and facing a life in prison as a result of the Northern Territory’s mandatory sentencing laws, a decision the judge himself described as an “injustice”.
Dan and his team spent weeks in the Top End town of Katherine investigating the killing and the events that led to Zak Grieve being jailed, despite evidence he was not there when the crime took place. They conducted exclusive interviews with many of the people involved, including the judge who sent Grieve to jail, and obtained rare access to crime scene footage, forensic photographs, police interviews with suspects and trial recordings from the case.
The compelling documentary raises questions about the criminal justice system itself. How could this apparent injustice have happened? Is it time for the mandatory sentencing laws that led to Grieve’s lifelong incarceration to finally be revoked?

In light of recent developments, on the 52nd anniversary of the Beaumont children’s disappearance CI will air a special episode of CRIME INVESTIGATION AUSTRALIA: THE BEAUMONT CHILDREN MYSTERY on Friday, January 26 at 10.30pm.
Hosted by Steve Liebmann, this 60-minute special follows the original investigation into one of Australia’s most infamous and unsolved crimes – the disappearance of the three Beaumont children.
On Australia Day 1966, an outing to a beach in Adelaide turned to horror when three small children, Jane (9), Arnna (7), and Grant Beaumont (4), vanished suddenly and without a trace.
Were the children abducted by the man seen playing with them at the beach? Were they buried in an accident in the sand dunes? Or are they still alive?This CRIME INVESTIGATION AUSTRALIA episode includes detailed re-enactments, exclusive interviews with the parents and police as well as extensive examinations of the theories behind the well-publicised case.
The special also looks at the claims made by world-renowned Dutch psychic Gerard Croiset shortly after they disappeared that the children had not been kidnapped but rather had been trapped below the concrete floor of a warehouse that was being built. Years later in 1996, the warehouse was eventually excavated but no trace of the Beaumont children was ever found. Recent developments will see SA Police excavate a new area of this same factory in search of the three children.

The popular Foxtel series exposes what really happens behind bars, as participants live among a jail facility’s general population for 60 days – without officers, fellow inmates or staff knowing their secret. Hundreds of around-the-clock cameras planted throughout the jail capture this unparalleled access, in a unique effort to bring problems to light and provide a first-hand look at prison life in unfamiliar and often terrifying surroundings.
Foxtel is streaming all 11 episodes of the newest Season 5 from today On Demand, and also screening weekly on Crime + Investigation Wednesdays from August 28 at 9.30pm. Season 5 is set at the Pinal County Detention Center, deep in Arizona’s south-western desert, close to the Mexican border and dead centre of America’s drug corridor. It is the 3rd deadliest jail in America, five inmates have died since 2015, and a Detention Officer was brutally stabbed 21 times by inmates. But there’s a new sheriff in town, Sheriff Mark Lamb is a cowboy hat- wearing, God- fearing Mormon with 10 years of law enforcement under his belt. He’s determined to reform this jail and believes that implementing the “60 Days In” program will get him the results he’s looking for.
In order to do so, Sheriff Lamb recruited a savvy team of men and women to help him investigate the inmate population and the jail system itself. Jazmyn, Abner, David, Mark, Vivian, Steve and Brooke will be the Sheriff’s eyes and ears on the inside, and each one brings a unique skill set that makes them the perfect candidate to infiltrate, identify and disrupt the weaknesses inside in the jail. From a former-Gang-Member-Turned-Chaplain who served more than 15 years in prison to a 60 Days In super fan, the Sheriff is leaving no stone unturned and assigning each of the seven participants one of three specific missions. While inside, the participants will focus their intel on drugs, gangs, and jail operations, and they’ll have 60 days to do it; if they make it that long.
All 16 episodes of 60 Days In Season 4 are also currently available to stream On Demand on Foxtel. Series 4 is set in urban surrounds at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia housing approximately 2,500 inmates. The Fulton County Jail has a heavy gang population with the Bloods, the Gangster Disciples and the Crips being the main forces in the pods. Filming takes place in two different facilities, men are housed in the main campus building in Atlanta whereas women are housed in a separate building about 30 minutes away. The nine innocent participants are locked down for 15 hours every day with their cellmates. Men are housed in two person cells. Women bunk in cells with seven other inmates.

In 1979, the case of the Lawyer in the Freezer rattled Adelaide’s legal profession to its core. Flamboyant, gay, criminal barrister Derrance Stevenson was found sealed in his kitchen’s deep freeze, having been shot in the back of the head. His young lover David Szach, just 19 years old, was convicted of murder and served 14 years in prison.
But for 40 years David has fiercely maintained his innocence. Now, with his appeal soon to be heard, David wants Walkley Award-winning author Debi Marshall to re-examine his case and what he claims is a gross miscarriage of justice.
Debi’s determination to fight for justice for victims and their families started after she helped track down the killer of her own partner in 1992. Debi’s emotionally raw and confronting story is also told across the series.
With the help of FBI-trained criminal profiler Kris Illingsworth , Debi begins to peel back the layers of Derrance Stevenson’s double life to reveal a grimy world of organised paedophilia and pornography. Forensic Files was a ground-breaking forensic investigative series when it first launched in April 1996 under the name Medical Detectives. Covering a mix of high-profile killings, medical mysteries and tragic accidents, the show helped pioneer documentary style crime-science shows, examining how cutting-edge forensic evidence techniques like DNA, fiber analysis and blood spatters are used to track down cold-bloodied murderers, terrorists, and rapists.
As with the original series, Forensic Files II will continue to break down crime cases with the help of scientific evidence and improved forensic techniques, while using dramatised recreations to explain the story behind the cases. After a record-breaking performance in the US when it recently aired, the series has just been renewed for a further two seasons.
