Australia defeated West Indies by 90 runs in the second women’s ODI at Warner Park in St Kitts, to claim an unbeatable lead in the three-match series. Batting first again, Australia made 7/269 from 50 overs, thanks to Beth Mooney’s 65 after missing game one, as well as 46 from Phoebe Litchfield and quick runs by Georgia Wareham (39), Nicola Carey (30 not out) and Alana King (26 not out).

In reply, the Windies collapsed from 1/94 to 9/130, before Afy Fletcher and Karishma Ramharack put on 49 runs for the 10th wicket. Ashleigh Gardner and Georgia Wareham each took three wickets for the Aussies.

Haven’t been able to see a single ball of that womens series. Only on Disney+ of all setvices

There are extended highlights of the women’s series on YouTube, at the channels of ESPN Australia and Windies Cricket.

There has also been live streaming on Youtube.

It was a fantastic game and at least there was a fair crowd down at the Junction Oval, used by necessity given the unavailability of that paddock near the Nylex silo at this time of year. The Sheffield Shield is where the real competitive action is these days.

Unfortunately there’s no real cricket for the next couple of months due to the IPL…it’s back to watching Cricket Gold for me.

Thanks for that

I visited the WACA (or the “double-u ay see ay ground” in the words of a recently departed broadcaster) this weekend while over west and am very impressed with what they’ve done there too. There’s a pool complex with a lap pool that watches over the ground, there was a grade cricket final on so I was able to have a dip while watching a few overs.

Haven’t done Junction Oval in recent times but told it’s quite nice, AB Field certainly is nice too if you’re in the shade. It’s really quite nice watching cricket at these smaller boutique grounds compared to the larger stadia.

Yeah i think we have gotten to a point now were domestic cricket could be exclusively played at these alternative venues. Since each state with the exception of Tasmania has one. Though once the new stadium in Hobart is built then that’s what Bellrieve will become.

There’s always Lonny and they’ve even played some matches at Devonport and maybe Burnie in the past. I think Devonport has even hosted a WSC match or two, back in the 80s.

Before Bellerive they used the TCA Ground which I believe is closer to the Hobart CBD. It’s on a hill so it’s even more notoriously windy than Bellerive.

Yes both Devonport and the old NTCA Ground in Launceston each hosted an ODI back in the 80s. As did the old TCA Ground in Hobart before they made Bellrieve the main venue. Yes hey have recently played matches at York Park (i can’t keep up with naming rights sponsors) but it also hosts Aussie Rules matches.

Fellow WA quick Lance Morris, former Test opener Sam Konstas, T20-specialist allrounder Glenn Maxwell and fellow Victorian Matt Short are others to have dropped off the contract list, as well as Usman Khawaja, who retired from Test cricket at the end of the Ashes.

Australian women’s team concluded its West Indies tour with a nine-wicket win in the third and final ODI at Warner Park, to take a 3-0 series clean sweep. Player of the match Alana King grabbed 5/19 as the home side was bowled out for just 136 in 35.4 overs. The Aussies needed only 19.4 overs to reach the target. Phoebe Litchfield was the top scorer with 68 from 56 balls and was named player of the series.

oh boy…

Fox contract extension when?

He still has five years on the current deal.

It was a joke; drink driving and/or other associated crimes seem to be a requirement of working for Fox Sydney.
