Christina Matthews is the second inductee into Australian Cricket Hall of Fame this year, following Michael Clarke.
Australia declared its first innings at 6/654 during the first test against Sri Lanka in Galle yesterday. It is Australiaâs highest test score in Asia. Usman Khawaja was the top scorer with 232 while Steve Smith and test debutant Josh Inglis also made centuries.
Yeah, and an increased use of âoutâ/âoutsâ (not just in The Hundred), I noticed the CA live commentary reads something like âSmith bowled outâ.
You know that if it wasnât an Indian it would have been a bigger sanction.
Probably a better suited topic for the International Coverage thread.
Especially when you take into account what the rest of NZâs grounds look like.
I think they give it a pass if they pick it up as it hits the rope, as giving the 4 when it might have plugged and they run 3 is penalty enough. But I believe it should be 5 penalty runs according to the law. Remember who the team was thoughâŚ
How he still gets a gig is beyond belief.
How racist could you possibly be?
Yeah alot of the fierce rivalry has gone out of both the menâs and womenâs game.
You can reply however you want to posts but Iâm
not sure why youâre bringing back month old comments that were about 400 posts ago in this thread.
Apologies mate but Iâve been gone for a month so Iâm only just getting through posts now.
Which is fine - but suggesting posts 400 comments ago are in the wrong thread is probably not really necessary .
As for the current test, itâs horribly boring - Sri Lanka simply arenât that good and Australia have batted well, as in the low energy broadcast and it all just feels rather flat (to me).
And welcome back! I did wonder where you were.
I can understand why Seven are calling big moments from the studio. Itâs just a flat call without Kat or Collo on the mic (and even then, Collo isnât great on TV much like Brayshaw, having to tone down and not call the entire ball).
Jeez at least someone missed me haha
Agreed - I think theyâve made the right call to do that - even if it can be a little jarring going between the venues (as a viewer).
Is it to do with the language barrier? Being harder to call for those with English as a second or third or even fourth language?
Was also wondering where you were - isnât the same without you
Maybe for the 2nd test they actually add a caller to their panel so itâs not Copeland doing the ball by ball. For the ODI itâs Richo & Hodge so at least they have a caller for that if they decide to do some studio calling
Thatâs being generous to Richo
Why is Sam Konstas not playing? Sorry if it has already been addressed.
Because they dropped him. They wanted Head to open because heâs been successful there before and Konstas hasnât played in these conditions. Additionally Inglis was a better option at 5 so he came in for Sam.
Australia have been eliminated from the ICC Womenâs Under-19 T20 World Cup held in Kuala Lumpur, losing todayâs semi-final to South Africa by five wickets. Australia were restricted to 8/105 from their 20 overs, with Caoimhe Bray (who made her debut in the WBBL last year for Sydney Sixers, at just 15) the top scorer with 36. South Africa reached the target with 11 balls to spare.
UPDATE
South Africa will face India in the final after the latter defeated England by nine wickets in the second semi final.
Ridiculous. They should have been getting him primed for the ashes.
Aussies all over this test, the scoreline probably no surprises given Sri Lanka, though I think the teams, nations, broadcasters, crowd and viewers mightâve been expecting a bit more TBH. Humiliating actually.
Usman Khawaja was simply brilliant, massive well done.
Look, this was always bound to happen. He has promising potential and the personality CA would want especially attracting Gen Z and the like to test cricket, be it lost or new fans. But his broad performance over summer hasnât been 100% and especially after Boxing Day. I think selectors made the right call, regardless of the current contest.
I agree, but not as soon as this⌠I think the last Australian batter to have not ever been dropped in an extended career was Greg Chappell (Border, Steve Waugh and Ponting all got dropped fairly early on before getting selected again and creating their distinguished careers).
