Australia won the Second Test against New Zealand, by 3 Wickets. NZ really let the first session get away from them. A couple of decent late wickets wasn’t enough to stop the West Islanders.
Alex Carey was Australia’s hero today, scoring 98 not out and putting on 140 runs for the sixth wicket with Mitchell Marsh (80), after the Aussies were reduced to 5/80 this morning. Carey was named player of the match and Matt Henry named player of the series after taking 17 wickets.
The 2-0 series win sees Australia replacing New Zealand at second spot, behind India, on the World Test Championship ladder, with NZ slipping to third.
The proposed order is: Perth, Adelaide (day/night), Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney
The Australian season will start with three one-day matches and three T20 internationals against Pakistan in November.
Why do they persist with ODI games, just bin them already. Playing them just drives the format into the ground…oh wait I think I realise now.
There is nothing wrong with ODIs if they are scheduled properly. They must be either on Friday, Saturday or Sunday afternoons.
They take more than just an afternoon to play… About 7.5 hours with 30 mins for break/change of innings.
Either a day game from 10.30 to 6pm or day / night from 2.30 to 10pm like the old days.
Yes, that’s what I mean, start at 2.30pm on a Friday afternoon and people can come as they finish work, or an all day game on Saturdays or Sundays.

This is the second time they have done this…
The article also buries the news that the tour of Ireland is on shaky ground as well.
The Afghanistan situation is an interesting hill for CA to die on - not sure if anyone else is taking a similar position.
The Ireland issue makes us look like we don’t want to do our part to grow the game
Third time actually.
Certainly not the ICC.
“We have spoken with the Afghanistan Cricket Board and their position is they have to operate within the laws of the country and the rules as set by the government, and really the question for the ICC Board is ‘do we support our member in their ability to promote cricket within the rules set by the government of the country?’, and the view is yes.”
It’ll be interesting to see how long we can continue to take this stand or if others will come on board. The appetite doesn’t seem the same as it was for bans against South Africa through the 70s and 80s.
Perhaps when we see the all male Afghan Olympic team marching in the opening ceremony ndet the Taliban flag the penny will begin to drop.
It’s actually Ireland’s end that the problem lies. If you read the article it quotes their CEO who explains that they physically don’t have enough venues to host all the cricket they are scheduled to, and the Australia tour is the likely casualty.
Western Australia have won their third consecutive Sheffield Shield title, beating Tasmania in Perth by 377 runs late on day four.
Gee that ended quickly, last I checked WA were still batting and well in front.
Hard to believe, but India have won 7 of the last 9 Test series against Australia, including the last 4 in a row.
They’ve become something of a bogey side for Australia in Tests.
The 2nd women’s ODI vs India on December 8th will clash with Men’s 2nd test day 3.
They have the WODI as a day game and the Test is D/N but I still think it will clash in the last 1-2 hours as the WODI won’t finish until about 4pm.
TV wise the WODI
FTA: probably on 7 then moved to 7mate or 7mate entirely
Pay TV: on Fox Cricket and moved to another Fox sports channel
While both matches will be broadcast live on ABC Local Radio, analogue radio coverage will be an issue. Which match takes priority?
