…so he hasn’t played for the “baggy greens” has he?
Obviously got the ICC copywriters working for them, no surprise given the league is also essentially an Indian-run league.

Disagree with Dom big time on this.

Perth Scorchers are BBL champions for the fifth time (and back to back for the second time). They beat Brisbane Heat by five wickets with three balls left, in front of a record crowd of 53,886 at Optus Stadium. Captain Ashton Turner was the hero with 53 runs, but Nick Hobson and 19-year-old Cooper Connolly also contributed.

Brisbane batted first and made 7/175 from their 20 overs. They lost 3/13 in three middle overs, including 2/8 in the Power Surge. Nathan McSweeney was the top scorer with 41.

The Scorchers gained revenge for their loss to the Heat in the BBL final at the WACA Ground in January 2013.

What a night. What a game. The Big Bash is back!

The Heat shouldn’t have lost. As soon as Turner was out I thought it was all over, though the Heat didn’t capitalize on their chances with dropped catches.

Incredible crowd at Perth Stadium 2nd largest ever crowd to attend a cricket match and biggest crowd in BBL history

The Brisbane Heat should have won that game, had they caught the ball properly. They’ve missed a lot of chances. But unfortunately, Cooper Connolly and Nick Hobson steadied the ship and sailed the team home.

Australia was meant to play South Africa in 3 ODI’s last month which was cancelled. Had that went ahead we wouldn’t had seen Steve Smith and our test stars in the BBL

As things stand, Australia are in a prime position to be one of the teams contesting the WTC final - if they draw just one of their four Tests against India, and don’t drop any penalty points due to poor over rates, they will seal their place in the final. Anything less than that, and Australia would be dependent on other results.

Really looking forward to the 1st India v Australia Test, which starts in Nagpur at 3pm AEDST today. Finally a proper Test match to savour.

The Aussies will be without Josh Hazlewood however.

Two Indian Test debutants, with batter Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat pulling on the Indian whites for the first time.

Not a great start by the Aussies. 2 for 2 at one stage. Now 2 for 20

Surprised to see Travis Head dropped but I can understand why.

The two easy series recently against South Africa and the West Indies were not good preparation. It will be very hard to beat India at home.
