Indeed. Also how did the herald sun find out. Smear journalism at its best.
Stephen Drill wrote in the Herald Sun today that the paper found out the texts âin recent daysâ and sent a number of questions to Paine and Cricket Australia last week.
How do you âfindâ texts?
Theyâd only be on two phones. Timâs and the woman he was texting.
Tim obviously wouldnât have leaked them so it logically must have been the woman he was messaging?
If the messages were investigated, there is likely to be more people who at least have the text of those messages
True.
The whole things just off. I really donât like these historical incidents coming to light many years later, especially if they were investigated and closed at the time of said incident.
(CA chair Richard Freudenstein) said he had been told about the closed case when he came onto the board two years ago, while Hockley confirmed he was aware of its existence although only delved into it deeply last week when it became clear the story was going public.
How far back do they need to dig to find whether a candidate is suitable? How many candidates would have no skeletons in their closet? I think theyâd be hard pressed to find any perfect people. While I donât like what he did, he didnât break any laws as it was investigated and found to be consensual.
Ricky Ponting was nearly kicked off the team because of several off-field indiscretions and was the bad boy of the team for a while but then came on to be captain for several years. Before appointing him as captain it was between him, Gilly and Shane Warne. How many scandals including sexting ones was Warney involved in yet he was still in the running.
I think the standard Paine (in particular) is held to is a by-product of the incident that resulted in him becoming captain - at the time he was appointed captain, the matter wasnât exactly ancient history either.
One difference with Paine is his age - 36 - young 20 somethings can be forgiven for an indiscretion as part of growing up and adjusting to being in the public eye as a professional cricketer. He is also likely to retire in the next couple of years.
Paine who was in his 30s at the time and a married man, should have known better.
Why is is Hamish Mchlachan interviewing Paine and his wife for the news corp press? Heâs a hack.
Hamish does interviews with different people in the Sunday News Corp papers each week. Just so happened he could interview Tim Paine this week. Whatâs the problem?
I dislike him. Heâs cringeworthy and is a pathetic sports broadcaster.
Age is irrelevant - Paineâs behavour in relation to the matter at hand is not acceptable, regardless of how old he is or was
Yes, itâs never acceptable, but no one is perfect, and at Paineâs age, as I already said, he definitely should have known better for sure.
Good luck trying to find people who havenât sexted these days. I know I havenât but when I had a job repairing phones I saw just how common it was and that was the mod 2000s - itâs exponentially more common these days. Wasnât just young people then either and there were even some that were high profile people too.
Just as a disclaimer I wasnât seeking these out, they were all just seen when going about the course of my job but I was surprised how much it was and that was over a decade ago.
The affair stuff - how often are we seeing the reports in the media or the politicians with their indiscretions and how many of them lose their jobs? Not that many if you take a look.
Iâll be surprised if thereâs not more to come out about the accuser soon because thereâs definitely a lot stacking up against her shock and horror and unsolicited allegations.
I donât agree morally with what was done but the family has dealt with it and moved on. Do we really need to know or care? Iâm sure thereâs plenty of people you all know who have things hidden that they wouldnât want you or their families to know.
True, but this also about bringing the sport into disrepute - professional sportspeople in general get paid a crapload more than politicians and and need to be held to account accordingly, on and off the field. Same goes with NRL and AFL players.
If they donât like it, then go and play park cricket and get a real job and lose all the perks that come with being a professional sportsperson and then no one will care whether they are sexting anyone else.
WBBL|07 group matches ended this afternoon in Adelaide Oval. The final four are:
- Perth Scorchers
- Melbourne Renegades
- Brisbane Heat
- Adelaide Strikers
All NSW and Victorian teams had to play their matches on the road due to border closures and I think the loss of a home state advantage played a large part in the poor result for them, with only the Renegades qualifying for the finals and last seasonâs top two (Stars and Thunder) missing out. Not only that, the Renegades can not play their final at home in Melbourne because of WAâs border closure to Victoria.
Hopefully next year it will be back to a full home and away WBBL season with no border restrictions to worry about.
Harmanpreet Kaur becomes the third overseas player to be named the WBBLâs player of the tournament after New Zealand duo Sophie Devine (twice) and Amy Satterthwaite.
In tonightâs WBBL Eliminator at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide Strikers thrashed Brisbane Heat by eight wickets, thanks to some scintillating bowling from spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington in her 100th WBBL match. She took 5/8 (the best ever bowling in WBBL history) including her 100th WBBL wicket, reducing the Heat to 7/52 in the 12th over. The Heat eventually finished at 8/114 on the back of the 56-run eighth wicket partnership between Nicola Hancock (40) and Nadine de Klerk (18 not out). The Strikers reached the target with 21 balls to spare, and will now face Melbourne Renegades tomorrow night at the same venue.
Adelaide proved their win over Brisbane was no fluke, with another dominating bowling performance in The Challenger tonight. After winning the toss, the Strikers restricted Melbourne Renegades to just 8/84 at the end of 20 overs, with four bowlers sharing six wickets between them (plus two runouts). The Strikers reached the small target in the 12th over of the run chase only losing one wicket, and will be feeling confident facing Perth Scorchers in Saturdayâs final at Optus Stadium.
Well done Adelaide. Adelaide and Perth Will be in the WBBL Final. There will be a new name on the Title. May the best team win.
