It’s wrong, so wrong

Well, yes. It is.

But it’s how international cricket has worked for a long time.

Meanwhile, the Australian women’s team thrashed New Zealand by 232 runs in Brisbane this afternoon to sweep the Rose Bowl series 3-0, and equalled the men’s team’s record of 23 consecutive ODI wins set in 2003. The Aussies, without captain Meg Lanning due to a hamstring strain, still managed to score 5/325 from 50 overs, led by vice captain Rachael Haynes with 96.

Empty hearts and an empty place at the G. It’s sad to see his larger-than-life personality will never be sitting in the Star Sports IPL commentary again. 59 years old. Gone too soon. Dean JOnes, we will remember you and our thoughts are with Jane and daughters Phoebe and Augusta. WE will miss you. :sob: :sob:

Thoughts also with his son Koby.

India has been criticised for playing ‘mind games’ with Australia over the summer of cricket schedule.

Aussie legend Allan Border urged Cricket Australia to refuse potential requests from India to reschedule the New Year’s Test to January 7.

The request would be made to allow players to have a greater break between that match at the Boxing Day Test, but Border lashed India over the suggestion which could also impact the Big Bash League, and see a clash with the Australian Open tennis.

“I don’t think it should be a negotiated scenario,” Border told Fox Sports.

"If it’s necessary because of what is happening globally with the virus then fair enough, but if it’s just because they want a bit of a spell between Boxing Day and the New Year’s Test match, then that’s rubbish.

"We’ve been doing this for how many years now - back-to-back Test matches?

"It works a treat through that Christmas-New Year period and I wouldn’t be comfortable with it moving just because India want a couple more days off.

“I think they’re just playing mind games.”

The wife of Indian Test captain Virat Kohli is also expecting their first child in January, which could impact Kohli’s availability for the Test matches.

According to this article, here’s the tentative schedule (don’t think it’s 100% true so will have to wait and see):

Apparently WA won’t get anything this year. So your predictions could be right.

Can’t wait to have cricket back. And the best thing is we only have a month wait after the AFL Grand Final.

The WA Government’s stubborn refusal to reopen its state border will bite it on the bum in more ways than one.
It will be a financial disaster for the WACA (association) if not one single interstate or international match is played in Perth this summer, including the BBL, Sheffield Shield, Marsh One-Day Cup or the Women’s National Cricket League.

What happens with Perth scorchers Big Bash League Matches? Will they have to be played in interstate?

It’s a travelling carnival this year: it might just start in WA and move around, (eg. WA (two games, Optus, WACA), SA (two games, AO), ACT (two games, Manuka), NSW (two games, Showgrounds, SCG, NS), QLD (two games, Metricon, 'Gabba, Cazaly’s, AB), TAS (two games, Blundstone, UTAS), VIC (two games, Marvel, MCG, Citpower)) ending in Victoria. Potential for finals to be played ‘at home’, depending on border laws.

The WA continually says that opening the borders for them will result in job loses. They clearly do not rely on the freedom of travel like other states do. But they will probably get a Big Bash hub at the end of the season. So they have that to look towards. Its a pity they can’t just offer something easier for the sports stars heading into Perth. They don’t need to open their borders but they could just make it easier there to give people from WA the opportunity to see the cricket.

Yeah I was aware of that. Was more discussing the mens which, not exactly proud to admit, is my preference to watch.

South Africa is at risk of being banned from INternational Cricket after the government wanted to intervene in the affairs of the sports national body.

Did cricket players take a pay cut like other sports? Players like Steve Smith are on contracts worth over 1 million a year. So you can understand why Cricket Australia won’t budge on their contract if the players won’t take cuts.
