India beat Australia in the third and final ODI in Bangalore by seven wickets to claim the series 2-1 with opener Rohit Sharma scoring 119. The home side bounced back from the 10 wicket loss in game 1, while Australia’s middle and lower order struggled.

I guess it’s not surprising that they don’t know the difference between league and union! :grinning:

Two weeks ago, Melbourne Stars duo Marcus Stoinis and Hilton Cartwright posted the highest partnership in BBL history (207) against Sydney Sixers. Tonight Hobart pair Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short almost matched the record with 203 of their own against the Strikers in Adelaide. Wade smashed 130 runs from just 61 balls.
The Strikers were competitive in the run chase, only losing by 10 runs. Good bowling by James Faulkner and Nathan Ellis took the Hurricanes across the line.

THis is just exceptional. Wade scoring 130 runs off 61 balls. I think Hurricanes deserve to win answers will play in Final.
Scorchers lost to Thunder in a rain affected match at the Spotless Stadium.

Hurricanes won by 10 runs, thus securing a finals spot, and also meaning Stars will host the “Qualifier” against the Sixers.

Adelaide will now host the winner of the “Eliminator” between 4th and 5th, which will be either Heat vs Hurricanes (if Bris beat the Renegades tomorrow), otherwise the Hurricanes will host the Thunder.

Scorchers and Renegades can start planning for Mad Monday.

Pretty good considering how shit the tournament was getting. Not bad match ups.

Hobart Hurricanes have secured a finals spot. Tomorrow relies on the Sydney Thunder if they retain the spot for the finals. The Renegades will play the Brisbane Heat at Marvel Stadium tomorrow afternoon. Melbourne Renegades have guaranteed last position. This is the equation:
If Renegades win: Thunder will qualify for the Finals. Hobart will finish 4th. Hurricanes v Thunder (Blundstone Arena) in the Eliminator.
If Brisbane Heat win: they will leapfrog into 4th place, and push the Sydney Thunder out of Finals. Brisbane will play Hurricanes at the Gabba.

The BBL is like fast food: good occasionally, but watch too much of it and you end up regretting it. It would be better if it only ran for 3-4 weeks.

It will be interesting to see if the Melbourne Stars choke yet again…

After England sealed a 3-1 series win against South Africa, the test championship table now looks like this.

IND 360 (P7, W7)
AUS 296 (P10, W7, L2, D1)
===============================…
ENG 146 (P9, W5, L3, D1)
PAK 80 (P4, W1, L2, D1)
SL 80 (P4, W1, L2, D1) [They’re currently playing Zimbabwe in a second test having won the first by 10 wickets, Zimbabwe of course not part of the championship]
NZ 60 (P5, W1, L4)
RSA 24 (P7, W1, L6] [6 Points deducted for slow over rates in 4th test]
WI 0 (P2, L2)
BAN 0 (P2, L2)

The next test that affects the table is NZ vs IND at the end of February.

South Africa have really fallen into a hole Test wise… pretty much ever since they won their home series against Australia nearly 2 years ago during “sandpaper gate”.

Following the sandpaper-gate series against Australia in March 2018, South AFrica have won just 4 out of 13 Tests. This series, South Africa have lost 3 Tests against England at home. Their fielding and batting skills are so poor. SA have lost a lot of players in the past two years–Steyn, Morkel, de Villiers, Philander and Amla have moved on. Faf Du Plessis is about to retire soon.

This wasn’t even their worst defeat at home; last year they lost to Sri Lanka.

The cricket team is merely a mirror of the country at large…a big mess.

Sydney Thunder has recorded a 57 run win over Hobart hurricanes in Blundstone Arena. Hobart hurricanes started off ok but lost 6 wickets for 25 in 4 overs! The Thunder (who has finished 5th after the Home and away season) will then travel to adelaide to face the strikers on Saturday night.

Who in turn are hoping more rain falls in Harare so they can avoid defeat against Zimbabwe…

Very disappointing batting by Melbourne Stars in the BBL Qualifier tonight, bowled out for 99 chasing Sydney Sixers’ lacklustre total of 7/142 at the MCG. A huge turnaround from three weeks ago when Marcus Stoinis and Hilton Cartwright scored the biggest partnership in BBL history against the same opponent at the same ground. 99 is also the lowest score in the Stars’ history. While the Sixers will have eight days’ break before hosting the grand final, the Stars will have to rebound quickly and win the Challenger at the MCG next Thursday night, before flying to Sydney to face the Sixers.

Next Saturday it is due pelt down rain at the SCG so the Bushfire Bash and BBL Final might get washed out

If the Melbourne Stars make the final and it gets washed out they will win the BBL as they finished 1st in the group stage.

With the possibility of bad weather affecting Friday night’s semi-final between Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the question of ‘what happens in the event of a washout?’ has been a regular one to arise.

Firstly, a match will only be considered abandoned if there is a failure to complete a minimum of five overs in each innings.

If that’s the case, the high-ranking team will progress to the final – in this case, Melbourne Stars, who leapfrogged the Scorchers into second spot with a dramatic victory in Perth last Saturday night.

The official BBL playing conditions handbook explains: “In circumstances where a result is not possible in a semi-final then the team which finished higher on the points table at the completion of all preliminary matches shall qualify for the final.”

The same situation applies in the final – that is, in the event of a washout, the higher-ranked team lifts the trophy.
