Danushka is a big troublemaker. He has been suspended at least five times

one way to put it…

Also looks like he could end up in jail after this. Completely ruined his cricket career.

Least of his worries now.

The timing is interesting as the semi finals and the final of T20 World Cup will be held in the next week. Can they also attend the matches and talk to ICC executives about the possible inclusion of T20 cricket in the 2028 or 2032 Olympic Games?

I would say that they’re killing two birds with one stone by doubling up the two.

India thrashed Zimbabwe by 71 runs in front of another big crowd at the MCG tonight, and finished on top of Group 2. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav scored 50s as India smashed 79 runs in the last five overs.

Zimbabwe was on the back foot right at the start, losing Wessly Madhevere on the first ball. Apart from the 60-run partnership between Ryan Burl and Sikandar Raza, the team put up little resistance.

India have secured top spot of Group B after beating Zimbabwe. After INdia made 4/186, Zimbabwe got off to a dreadful start, losing 2 top batsmen for ducks. The Zimbabwe Cricket team never recuperated and were all dismissed for 71 runs at the MCG. The crowd attendance at the MCG was 82 507.

UPDATE 9/11: the ceremony was held at the SCG this evening, before the start of the T20 World Cup semi-final between New Zealand and Pakistan.

PAK have defeated NZ in the 1st T20 semi by 7 wickets with 5 balls to spare.

After a century opening stand between Babar and Rizwan, they always looked like the run chase was in hand, but given their history of batting collapses, you could never be too confident of they would go!

NZ’s 152 looked to be about 15-20 runs short of what they should have scored, and that showed.

That’s a good win for the Pakistan Cricket Team. Pakistan missed the Finals last year, but they went on to win the semi-final over NZ at the SCG.
The last time Pakistan played in the T20 World Cup Final was back in 2009. Pakistan will travel to the MCG.

Who meets Pakistan in the T20 World CUp Final?

I really can’t split ENG or IND!

Maybe the Indians by a nose, but then only because of Virat Kohli. But if he doesn’t get a decent score with the bat, ENG will probably win.

……

OH … and one issue with the final… Showers are forecast in Melbourne on Sunday, and on Monday (the reserve day)…. Could they move the Monday game to Marvel if Sunday is a wash out?

Good idea. How does it work? Does it need to be 20 overs a side?

The rule says that for the semi-finals and final, a minimum of 10 overs have to be bowled to the side batting second, subject to a result not being achieved earlier.

If Sunday’s match is a wash out, it will be played at the MCG on Monday from 3pm AEDT.

I think @Radiohead has a good idea but it might be logistically impossible to do.

This is correct. Plus they have an extra 2 hours beyond the normal allowance to finish the match.

Correct, as there is no pitch at Marvel currently. So good luck playing a match there.
