The cricket is being played on the online stream for macq sports radio. The terrestrial radio has afl on. NTS has just replays of macq radio shows on. I am in Sydney.

Karen Tighe revealed on ABC Grandstand this afternoon that the ABC has secured radio rights to this year’s Cricket World Cup in England and Wales. ABC will cover all 48 matches of the tournament including Australia’s group matches, mainly online and via the ABC Listen app. That means three Australian radio networks (ABC, Crocmedia, MSR) will broadcast the Cricket World Cup, for the first time in tournament history.

I remember the BBC World Service covering some games on shortwave back in 1999. Good to see the ABC covering the non Australian games as well, even if it is online.

The curse of the eastern Australian time zone means that the domestic audience will be quite small, though. It will probably be of some benefit to fans in other countries such as India and the West Indies who don’t get much ball by ball radio coverage.

Are they all using the same Coverage?

ABC will be taking BBC’s call. ABC may even send Jim Maxwell to UK to join the BBC team.

Sounds like a similar coverage to India 2011 and even 2015 where most games were digitally available (can’t remember if the NZ games were or not).

For the first time in many years the Sheffield Shield final won’t be broadcast on ABC Radio. This week’s final between Victoria and NSW can only be seen on Fox Cricket and streamed on Kayo.

yeah its a shame no radio , but I wish fox cricket would bring more shield games during the season. It is quite refreshing to watch in bits and pieces. Does not have to be all games the cricket.com coverage is average one or two cameras only.

I really don’t understand why Cricket Australia wants to shunt the ABC out of men’s domestic cricket coverage given the attendance at matches (apart from BBL) are very low.

The warm up match, Aust vs England is on grandstand digital. In Sydney they still had the NRL in. Lets when the real matches are on, will nrl be heard on dab?
