COVID-19: News Coverage 😷

Hi,

Does any one know what time 10 finished the press conference today? (AEST) And was it included with Studio 10? I.e. Studio 10 branding and returned to the show to wrap up? (note: the live steam on 10’s twitter wrapped up after 48 minutes so am curious if 10 aired the full conference and if the Studio 10 team stayed around)

Thank you! Any info is much appreciated!

Finish on 10’s coverage with time

Seems 7 and SBS used those slides directly, ABC, 9 and 10 showing it from a screen.

Good decision - kinda hard to read on the other channels.

ABC News 24, SBS World News and 10 NEws First saw live coverage of Breaking News press conference. Seven and nine did not, instead they went into normal programming.

Unusual for 10 to be the only commercial network with breaking news.

Good to see that they’re putting the work in. Hopefully once the virus has passed we might see more of an expansion of news services on 10.

I also noticed this afternoon that 10’s EPG included the breaking news as well.

Some sloppiness in this article, presumably written by someone without a technical background, for example:

A slew of concerns and shortcomings have been raised since the COVIDsafe app was launched on Sunday, including compatibility issues with Apple iPhone operating systems, vulnerability to ‘man in the middle’ hacks and the impregnability of the centralised data storage.

Executive director of the Optus Macquarie University Cyber Security Hub, Dali Kaafar, said an examination of the app’s code for the Google platform…

Apple iOS and … Android? Plus that confusing sentence about the centralised database. I’m still not sure if the author is claiming it can’t be hacked, or not.

One of the consequences, according to University of Wollongong information science professor Katina Michael, is that there are serious problems with the way the app works on Applie iPhones.

 Spell-check is too difficult?

Then this sudden change in topic, or does the author actually not realise these are two separate issues:

“There is a major chink in the design. And little attention was placed on user device performance. We haven’t done enough field testing and this means the device will likely not work as it drains people’s batteries,” she warned.

But Cybersecurity Cooperative Research Centre chief executive officer Rachael Falk, who was involved in reviewing the apps security parameters, expressed confidence in the safety of information collected.

Think the “impregnability” line is meant to suggest there are concerns that it could be hacked/accessed by other parties, while being totally non-committal so as to seem unbiased

I think we are getting to the point where every press conference doesnt need live coverage across the networks

No, but 10 are usually the least likely to go live to a press conference.
