Still so many more deaths in Victoria than New South Wales. 7 or 8 a day when there is only 1 sometimes 0 in NSW. Weird.
But there was that phase when NSW was having like 200 cases, but 14 or so deaths. Its all a bit odd.
Weāve had 1000 odd cases for months. More people over a longer period with Delta. We arenāt sure yet what the increase in case load of Omicron will mean with deaths. Hopefully it continues to be a milder illness so that doesnāt translate to deaths but thereās still a likelihood that in 1-2 weeks that could spike in NSW will increase with that case load.
Do we think Vic might start the 3rd dose booster interval early early (before Jan 4th)? They said today states that have capacity can. Sutton was very keen to speed up ASAP the other day and said they have the capacity.
Iām still not eligable till Jan 22 but going to book it in.
Do you mean 3rd dose earlier? Iāve heard a lot of people have been getting done before 5 months at state run hubs this last week.
Sorry yes meat 3rd. Corrected.
Anyone know if the major shopping centres doing their 32 hour trade this Christmas? I donāt think Highpoint is doing it.
Chadstone only did till midnight last night. Iād be interested to know how busy theyāve been. Iāve purposely avoided them this week but did a later night shop there last week, which was pretty quiet.
Today I was out grabbing a couple last minute things at an inner burb shopping strip. I reckon about 50% of people were wearing masks outdoors. Iāve not seen that much outdoor mask wearing since it was mandated! Then at Chemist Warehouse there was a long line where they had rapid antigen tests near the counter. I saw a lot of people in the line grabbing them. I feel like people are definitely taking extra caution over the Xmas period.
Highpoint was open until 2am this morning.
I donāt think many retailers have the appetite to stay open for these marathons anymore as theyāre likely not confident theyād turn a profit from the extra staff hours invested.
Half of them donāt have the staff anyway. 2-6am I would assume would be pretty dead.
Christmas Day
Boxing Day
Wow still a huge testing day on Christmas. Probably a lot of people travelling in the coming days. Good to see that Victoria just hasnāt seen that huge spike in cases (at least not yet) like NSW has. Maybe people have been a lot more cautious here in the lead up to Christmas.
Driving past some of the testing sites just now (most closing in the next hour), some of the longest lines Iāve ever seen. 4pm on a Sunday arvo normally ghost town.
Anna needs to do something this week pronto around PCR testing.
I think she has already announced a rapid test will be acceptable from 1st of January.
Why wait until then?
The behaviour from the QLD premier is appalling. She can see the damage sheās doing here and just doesnāt care.
Availability?
What damage is she doing?
Have you seen the reports on the news about the testing lines?
