COVID-19: Greater Sydney & NSW Re-Opens

I think today will tell more. There appears to be more and more places outside the Northern Beaches listed as a hotspot. So if the incubation period is 3 days we could see more cases outside that Northern Beaches location and seeding will occur elsewhere.

You have:
Cronulla
Double Bay
Penrith
Forster
Kirribilli
Lane Cove
Paddington
Surry Hills
Turramurra
Woolloomooloo
St Peters

The guardian was reporting increased fears of spreading.

And what’s their source?

We just need to take this day by day and not get ahead of ourselves

Fact remains at this point in time numbers are not high and it is only mostly on the northern beaches.

Obviously things could change but no point stressing and worrying about what if’s.

Listening to the NSW Health Minister this morning on Today, and with his slack attitude towards masks and restrictions, all I can say is good luck Sydney and NSW. You’d think he’d be doing all he could to stop the spread now rather than having a complete lockdown in the future. Wear masks NOW NSW. What does it hurt?

I wish people would avoid using the word ‘positive’ to describe optimism.

Seems a bit perverse given that being positive is something you definitely don’t want to be if you’re in Sydney…

I think people are misunderstanding this whole panic buying thing.

I don’t think people are panic buying as such. They’re more stocking up so they don’t have to go out of their house as frequently.

These are two different things.

I’d agree that it starts out as two different things (pragmatism and panic buying) but I’d also argue that there is a point where they turn into the same thing. People stock up fast simply to be prepared, creating the perception of low stock levels which in turn causes panic buying. The two are very closely linked.

Less than 30 which was yesterday’s numbers.

Only 15!!! All on Northern Beaches!

38,000 tests and 15 new cases. Decent result.

Great numbers from 38000 tests. If they keep going like this we will be ok.

All 15 linked to Avalon cluster.

This is fantastic news!

I am so fucking glad all you people here on MediaSpy that panic, along with the other State Premiers, the so called ‘experts’ that predict 3000 daily cases and the head of the AMA who this morning called for a total lockdown, are all not the Premier of NSW. Once again, NSW leading the way and PROVING to Australia that we have the best strategy to keep people sane, have some freedom and still fight COVID. Well done NSW and especially NSW Health & the NSW Govt.

I have not heard one person here predict 3000 daily cases…

So Gladys is still not wearing a mask? Lead by example I say…

I did not say anyone on Media Spy predicted 3000 cases. A so called ‘expert’ from UNSW did.

It’s possible the slump in numbers is because they were conducted on a Sunday. That being said, I think the response level from the government is…OK so far. I remember feeling the same way with the Crossroads and Thai Rock clusters and they turned out to be suppressed perfectly well.

38,000 tests though.

Me neither. 100 yes, 3000 as a prediction on Mediaspy seems way over-exaggerated.

Good that NSW is getting on top of this but I’ll save the final judgment until they finally stamp this out like how SA did with their cluster.
