Then you don’t get to complain, mate. The hypocrisy shown by some is staggering.
Personally I think the response has been appropriate. There is yet to be any evidence of seeding outside the Northern Beaches.
Long term, there is no easy way out of this for us. A vaccine will help regulate the impact and save the lives of vulnerable individuals but it won’t eliminate the virus. We are going to be dealing with this for years if not decades. We need to find a way to make it a normal part of life, like the flu and common cold.
The head in the sand, slam the door closed leadership being shown by some leaders around Australia is not helpful. Australia is going to suffer a very hard few years if our leaders don’t start showing some courage.
@turdall I powered on through. Wollongong is green zone. I feel anxious about it but will keep an active eye on things, including any exposure sites in Wollongong and if need be will leave, if that is before Christmas than so be it.
The benefit we have in the event the VIC border is completely closed is that our entire family is here so it’s not like we will be stuck with nowhere to stay, I packed my work laptop just incase something did happen so I can continue to work.
But we didn’t and we didn’t have an out of control number of cases. In fact, we had an extensive period of time with ZERO daily cases. All the whole people still had very few restrictions.
It proves that the responses by NSW have been appropriate and considered.
Nothing in today’s numbers necessarily needs to raise alarm given all are connected or localised. Of course the source hasn’t been found but it never was in NZ either for their second outbreak and they eliminated it again.
The other states response on borders make sense given the volume of travel this time of year but they wouldn’t have any health advice beyond what the NSW government have reported on. It’s all being super super cautious.
I’m confident they can get on top of this in a couple of weeks, just not sure if by Christmas. I feel for anyone in those areas for this to happen at Christmas and have no idea what that will look like for them now.
I just can’t understand any reason why you would look back at a small number of cases that were managed very well by NSW and never became a big issue, to then say that you should have had heavy restrictions then. It doesn’t make sense. You are basically saying you wish business were forced to shut and people were made to stay home even though it wasn’t necessary at the time (because the Govt got on top of it without needing to do that).
It will affect people from Greater Sydney, Central Coast, Illawarra-Shoalhaven and Nepean Blue Mountains regions. Canberrans returning from these regions from midnight tonight will also have to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.
