As long as the hospitals are coping does it really matter? I mean sure itâs going to be a massive inconvenience across the board, vaccinated people with mild symptoms will probably stick it out at home for a bit, itâs going to cost business a lot of dollars in sick leave next year.
Probably the end of the human race⌠If you we go with that.
That is the problem I donât think any hospital is coping with, looking by the tired nurses and how many people are being admitted. I do really want to know what is happening in India, because we have barely heard anything since the delta virus went airbourne over there. I really worry about how bad their system is buckling under the pressure. If it can happen in India, it can pretty much happen everywhere else.
Queensland has reintroduced masks in some settings. Which is great. Iâd already decided to start wearing a mask in shopping centres and other indoor activities.
While Iâm supportive of where this mask mandate is getting implemented (hospitals, aged care, public transport) I do think itâs funny that between SA setting the date at Dec 28 for the phase-out of several restrictions and the mask mandate in QLD that (unless thereâs an outbreak) McGowanâs âno masks during Christmasâ claim in relation to WA actually turned out to be accurate when only a month ago it was looking like itâd turn out to be false.
I have a feeling Mccoward is probably going to delay the border re opening come feb 5thâŚ.
Not sure why you think that when he has made it pretty clear⌠I think its wise to stop provoking fear.
Sounds like health ministers, off some of the press conferences, want to change the status of full vaccinated to three doses.
in the Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly press conference. he announced that there will be a statement from ATAGI but said that ATAGI will leave getting Covid-19 boosters at 5 months
Yeah I am more wondering if after 5 months you wonât be considered fully vaccinated unless you get your booster.
Sooooooo much can change in 7 weeks.
Who knows where the nation will sit mid Jan let alone early Feb.
They should just announce now that the definition of fully vaccinated will change in June 2022 to be 3 doses, May for healthcare workers.
It seems inevitable. The earlier the announce it, the earlier the deadline can be, and the less excuses and grace periods need to be accepted.
Can we expect this every 6 months for the next couple of years?
I wonder when we will stop the vaccinated economy as such and just leave the onus on each individual to do it. Business chasing up employees for Vax status for years on end and then business not allowing non booster people in, I think itâs getting way too much.
Really paints the picture, when the heck are we going to move on. Seems to be years away.
6 months would be annoying but a yearly shot alongside the flu shot was always one of the possible outcomes.
I wouldnât assume it will ever end. 20 years after September 11 we still have strict airport security, with no sign things will change, its just the way the world is now.
workplace and travel vaccine mandates are hardly a new concept anyway, the principle has always applied to aged care, hospital visitation and meat works. The only difference with covid is that it affects more people and more settings.
Good to see NSW and Victoria taking progressive steps out of this.
I am surprised just how many people donât have confidence in the re-opening date. Not everyone has agreed with WAâs actions, but you canât say they havenât been consistent throughout the pandemic and I donât think this will be any different.
I think the only potential difference is we may see an extended mask mandate / restrictions if Omicron turns out to be more lethal than predicted, I think that reneging on the date would eliminate all the political goodwill the WA Government has built up with the general population so far, and even though an election is 3 years away it would likely impact WAâs results in the federal election.
I can see why people are skeptical, especially as theyâve ratcheted up their border restrictions in recent times (although itâs easy to argue that it is consistent with their approach throughout the pandemic) - there was some skepticism around Queenslandâs border opening as well prior to it happening.
While itâs understandable to impose restrictions on Queensland, I think itâs an overreaction regarding Tasmania given there was only two cases reported today, one case reported yesterday, and no cases at all from December 2 to 15.
Didnât WA upgrade the risk category of states that have open borders?
