COVID-19: Discussion of Impact 😷

Too bad it only takes a few to break the rules to ruin it all for everyone.

I doubt this fellow would’ve been pleased if he had to do home quarantine either.

Being bitter gets you know where.

Another truck driver from New South Wales has tested positive to COVID-19 in Queensland. Infectious in the community for 2 days - the third truck driver in a week.

Should be clear that Singapore has vaccinated 80% of their total population. Not the Australian aspiration of 80% of 16+. Very different.

Singapore must be the front runner for worlds best handling of covid. They came into it with disadvantages, being densely populated and with an economy reliant on international travel. Pre-vaccine they suppressed and eliminated the virus well, then they had a good vaccine rollout and made the transition to living with covid.

For all we could know that person may have unwittingly become the first person to catch it and spread it. Not exactly their fault if that’s the case. Same to everyone in Wuhan that caught it unknowingly in the first place, they didn’t know anything about it.

Sorry you feel offended that wasn’t my intentions. A lot of psychologists would outline the negatives about feeling bitter and it’s not good for anyone’s mental health or self improvement. That was more where my comments laid. Also this ‘patient zero’ comment was a little misguided, firstly patient zero is a term we shouldn’t be using and secondly because we don’t really know the origins.

Insiders (and other commentators) this morning are warning Queensland to urgently get vaccinated ASAP. They are warning and predicting it’s only a matter of time until the virus crosses the border into the Sunshine State. WA and SA maybe able to hold it off longer, but Queensland risk is greatly higher at the moment.

Jeanette Young said there was another positive case in Queensland, a Qantas pilot who lives in a cattle property out towards Kingaroy. He had been isolating at home during his entire infectious period. His wife and two children had tested negative.

Dr Young said the pilot travelled from his home to Brisbane where he saw his mother, then flew to Hong Kong, then to Melbourne (where he tested negative). He also flew to Tamworth in northern NSW.

What do you think of his comments directed at Dan Andrews aimed at lockdowns not being good for young peoples mental health?

I haven’t seen a lot of evidence from Seven News Queensland to support the sentiment in the tweet. But we’ll take what we can get especially coming from Seven.

There’s some sort of campaign just started on socials by what looks like the arts industry.

What’s this madness from Palaszczuk? Fear mongering if you ask me.

That an old tweet from before the weekend and heavily discussed by all including Anastacia.

It’s called VAXTHENATION and Russel Howcroft is involved.

QLD Update - Queensland has recorded no new cases of locally-acquired coronavirus.

Also more good news that the risk of a lockdown is easing.

‘No shit, Sherlock’ comes to mind.
The misleading ‘80% of 16+’ bullshit needs to stop; we need >80% of the entire population vaccinated, ASAP.

Hopefully full-scale vaccination of everyone 12 years of age and older will happen soon (now the Moderna/NIH and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines are approved for anyone 12+, as supplies start to roll in), and approval for 5-11 is currently being worked on in the USA.

At least people got to make the most of it :slightly_smiling_face:
