Thereâs an argument the Euros and pingdenic caused a drop where people are isolating. But cases are almost meaningless there now, itâs hospitalisations and deaths that are more important, and itâs basically all unvaxxed people, with very low amounts of breakthroughs ending up very sick.
Also some arguments that UK is approaching heard levels now with antibodies and vaccinations.
Oh itâs great but it doesnât make sense. Going from 2800 cases to 450 cases in 2 weeks or decreasing the 7 days average by 2000 in 2 weeks just doesnât go with how other waves have worked and itâs almost unbelievable, as if itâs a mistake. Iâm know scientist but if I had seen that I would have tipped my desk and walked out.

The Tasmanian Government had its second COVID press conference this afternoon. Premier Peter Gutwein announced that the government would declare the entire state of Victoria as high-risk level 2 location from 8pm tonight, the same time the latest lockdown begins. It means only approved travellers or returning Tasmanians will be allowed to enter the state. Arrivals from Victoria will need to complete two weeks of quarantine either at a government-approved facility or in home quarantine for returning Tasmanians.
Also, all visitors to Tasmanian hospitals and aged care facilities will need to wear masks.

Malaysia is a pretty disturbing case study, similar population to Australia, a much more advanced vaccine rollout than us, using AZ & pfizer. 250 deaths yesterday and rising fast.

I am so bloody sick of the media filming restaurant owners throwing food into bins. Yes I know there are restrictions on what food can be given to charities, but how about the media outlets help the restaurant owners find people who could really benefit from the food. Make it a feel-good story rather than the bullshit melodrama.

This really annoyed me tonight too. Definitely shouldâve been given to a charity, or the business owners couldâve taken some home themselves. But Seven News Melbourne wanted the shot for cameraâŚ
A while ago they showed a woman throwing a multi-tiered wedding cake into a bin. Really tacky journalism. Reminds me of the Nicholas Boots âchainsâ debacle on Today Tonight all those years ago.

Seems like living in regional Qld (Yeppoon near Rockhampton) itâs a different world, never had any lockdowns , apart from a few restrictions last year eg food went takeaway, dentists couldnât do all procedures, some shops closed.
Hardly anyone wearing masks either. I noticed just a few elderly wearing it and a young person came into the chemist wearing one and that was about it.
A week long Village Festival outside going on still in Yeppoon and I think the Rockhampton Swap too.

02 August 2021. We have sought the advice of Qld Health regarding our approval to operate the Rocky Swap this weekend as an approved COVID safe event. They have advised that there is no covid-19 activity in the Central Queensland that would prevent us proceeding with the Swap. This is subject to change at the direction of Qld Health.
So that Rookwood Weir case nothing eventuated from it.
Tonightâs ABC News Victoria had an interview with the owner of Cargo restaurant (located at Melbourne Docklands). After the lockdown was imposed last night, Cargo organised its cooks to make food and deliver it to Salvation Army HQ in the CBD to be donated to the needy.

Probably the only good thing to come out of HSV7 recently is Sharnelle Vella and her daily âwho wants facts?â tweets. They are straight to the point, no bullshit and entertaining to read. Itâs a bit like her âdaily dickheadsâ tweets last year during Victoriaâs second wave lockdown.

Tasmania recorded no new COVID cases today. Premier Peter Gutwein said all the contacts of the COVID-positive traveller from NSW (from earlier this week) have been contacted by health officials. Gutwein said the man (who was carrying the Delta strain according to laboratory tests) had 189 contacts in total, 138 of whom had gone into quarantine, while the remaining 50 are considered low risk and do not require quarantine. All of these people have been tested for COVID-19, with all the returned results being negative.
