COVID-19: Discussion of Impact 😷

We can’t be a policed country though. You have to have some public compliance. The police can only do so much.

The last time that Perth did a lockdown a couple of months ago, my dad was there. When he came back it had changed to orange and he was definitely told to get the test.

I guess this time a lot of the orange zones listed by Victoria are pretty low risk and likely to drop off in a couple of days, so their focus are the red zones. There are some places like Townsville still being listed as an orange zone even though not a single person in Townsville has tested positive.

Tomorrow I’m travelling to Far North Queensland for a few short days (direct flight to a green zone from a green zone). Fingers crossed everything stays that way!

To stop the further transmission of the virus and allow the contact tracers to get on top of finding all of the cases.
And it worked.

Great work Victoria!

SA and WA are both easing COVID restrictions.

In terms of border changes, SA will lift restrictions on people coming from Victoria, with tests no longer required for people who cross the border; while WA will move Victoria to ‘very low risk’ from 12:01am (2:01am AEST) Friday.

This is good - providing there is enough Pfizer supply to go around.

The last few weeks should point out to the NSW and Federal governments that instead of thinking they are the “gold standard” and criticising and ridiculing the approach taken by other states with regards to restrictions, border closures and short, sharp lockdowns, they should actually look and learn from them.

All of the other states have been in and out of lockdowns and effectively back to normal while NSW struggles with high numbers of new cases, many unlinked and out in the community, and a complacent community attitude.

How many are unlinked?

It feels like many in here are wishing the worst for NSWs rather than hoping things get better. It’s not a state vs state thing. Remember 30 cases a day is not high. Many countries that had it good last year are going through a lot worse in daily case numbers. Give credit where credit is due. Nsw has done an outstanding job at suppressing and eliminating the virus over the last 18 months.

I know the state premiers have used the state wars to win elections but let’s all stay in it together and stop getting all drawn into the hysteria.

The projections for July indicate only a slight bump in supply, but from August this is projected to more than double. Nonetheless preparation for GPs needs to start now, because by the time it hits October and >2m doses per week are delivered they’re going to need as many GPs, and likely pharmacies as possible administering.

So 17-18 year olds at an elite private boarding school in Sydney can access Pfizer before all the other under 40s. This elitism and entitlement laid bare. It’s atrocious and scandalous.

How is that even remotely fair to everyone else under 40? Someone needs to investigate this as this sounds extremely corrupt.

It’s a disgrace. Not even teachers at state and private schools have access to vaccines.
