Nothing concrete as yet but have a source in NZ telling me there might finally be some movement. Watch this space.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the female doctor from the Princess Alexandra Hospital who tested positive had not received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Palaszczuk said the doctor assessed two COVID-19 positive patients on Wednesday and developed symptoms on Thursday. The patients she was treating had the UK strain.

Due to the doctor’s positive test result, the Queensland Government has placed all hospitals, aged care facilities and disability centres in the Greater Brisbane area in lockdown, and visitors are banned from those places for 72 hours.

I just assumed common sense, anyone who had any contact with anyone positive behind closed doors, should have been vaccinated first. Before absolutely anyone else. Considering they amount of people attending to these high risk patients would be very minimal I do find it bizarre that they have not had had the jab.

What’s up with Vic and International arrivals? I wonder if they will pause until they get a purpose built facility up and running

I assume the idea was given it was rolling out - to get everyone in the border/arrivals chain a first vaccine shot before resuming the flights - which if it weren’t for the horribly low availability should have been finished weeks ago.

The news out of Queensland shows that’d be both a good idea, and is a terrible reflection on the mismanagement of vaccination by the Feds, who have announced more vaccines than they’ve injected.

As others posted recently, Europe is being hit by a new wave of COVID-19. France, Poland and Italy each reported more than 20,000 new cases yesterday. Italy has ordered a national lockdown over Easter long weekend next month.

Im nervously watching From London.

We’ve seen no rise in the UK at all, deaths and cases still trending down week on week

Cases were up a little this week daily but schools opened and testing went from under a million tests to over 1.6 million tests daily

6000 cases out of 1.6 million tests on Friday

24 million vaccinated now

However if Europe takes off again with cases it’s bad news for us

It’s “illegal” for brits to leave the UK right now. That ban runs from Dec 20 - May 17 at earliest

UPDATE: it’s a 47-year-old Sydney security guard who works in two quarantine hotels but also worked in an office. He had received the first dose of COVID vaccine.

There’s usually a lag of a few weeks before we see an increase in case numbers after easing of restrictions.
Hopefully they’re not easing off too soon, although I fear that’s exactly what’s happened in a lot of places.

Not sure why people are focusing on people not being vaccinated. Vaccinations take up to 4 weeks to be effective. And they need to shots for it to be even more vaccinated. All this attention on whether people have been vaccinated is not healthy for people’s confidence in the vaccination process.

My brother, his wife and my niece are moving to NZ on Tuesday. What’s the bet they go through quarantine then it’s lifted… But I’m guessing these new cases in QLD/NSW will delay any planned movement on borders.

So until you get the second jab it’s essentially a non bullet proof exercise then?

Close contacts of Brisbane COVID-19 doctor test negative to virus as contact tracing continues - ABC News

Queensland has one new case of COVID-19, but it is likely historical and not connected to the case of a doctor at Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital who tested positive, the state’s health authorities say.

Three close contacts of the doctor tested negative overnight.

Queensland Deputy Chief Health Officer Sonya Bennett said contact tracing was now essentially complete, with 238 contacts traced from four venues the doctor had attended on Thursday.

Why are Hotel Security still working other jobs? I thought this was fixed months ago. This Sydney example, Office Job during week, HQ on weekends.

Many of these outbreaks spreading around are largely due to our own poor processes.
