Itâs bizarre considering the heavy handed approach observed in other ways, all other states are mandating the use of a specific app at this point (I think?)

That doesnât necessarily follow the notion of adults being able to spread COVID much easier than children? And we shouldnât forget that we still need to know if itâll even be recommended for many under 18.
At the same time, with the amount of Trinity College students there may be, there is logic to the idea.

Bizarre is the right word. Even at our most relaxed we are still more restricted than any other state in the country yet we wonât mandate a good app⌠it pisses me off we had so much time during lockdown to ensure this was ready and enforced when we opened up now you go to a dozen different venues and theyâre all using a half dozen different apps - the worst of which pop up like a Facebook chat message going back and forth asking for your details. JUST USE SERVICE VICTORIA!
I think Andrews is to soft on this. He should have made it mandatory for all business to use the service Victoria check in app. By what I heard itâs not that hard to set up. I think heâs afraid of a back lash from business if this was mandatory like it is in nsw and act

Is a residential college at Melbourne Uni, not school age kids.
It takes less than 5 minutes to setup - couldnât be easier. I think part of the problem is venues had already paid for apps or setup their own forms before the app was launched, so are now reluctant to switch.
and yes I know what was announced may be in for a while coz our (victoria) Cho brett Sutton indicated today that he would like to see more for the vaccine rolled out before thinking about the next stage of easy restrictions. but still, I would have liked to have seen the service victoria check in-app mandatory at some point being mandatory
ok but what i dont get is that yes it does take less then 5 minutes to set up so why are they reluctant to swtich ??? it should be mandantory like nsw and act (act is making there govt check in app mandantory from march 6th )
Worst part of the Service Vic app right now is it doesnât gracefully handle non-Service Vic QR codes.
Ideally a whitelist of major QR platforms to then forward you to those websites when you scan inside the app, and either auto fill it out or at least open the site in a browser - even if it does need to warn you itâs not a service Vic code.
Right now it just errors and you need to open a generic QR reader.
Victoriaâs numbers for today -
Iâve probably only been to a handful of places that have the Service Victoria QR system in place. Kmart is one of them. Every business should be using the Service Victoria QR system.
My local sporting club has a QR system, but unfortunately itâs not via Service Victoria. I do not trust places that have their own QR system. You do not know what theyâll do with your information.
Iâve been to a few places now, that when I QR in, it automatically provides my details even though Iâve never attended the venue before. I mustâve attended a previous venue that uses the same QR system.

Iâve found the same, even then sometimes the qr code doesnât work to I just give up. Never had an issue with an actual Service Victoria one.
Oh, my mistake.

The Victorian Government announced today that from March 27 (four weeks from today), businesses using electronic record keeping must use a system that seamlessly integrates with the governmentâs contact tracing system to help contact tracers respond to outbreaks even faster. It is hoping businesses will switch to Service Victoriaâs own check in app.
