COVID-19: Discussion of Impact 😷

This person last worked there 6 days ago so hopefully reduces likelihood of being symptomatic or infectious at the time. They have probably also been in isolation since then if they were a close contact.

Edit: Also why are media reporting this when it’s not even listed on exposure sites?

He also managed to present an ITV end of year special - not sure when it was recorded, but it was shown on Christmas Day.

Channel 7 confirmed tonight, the employee wasn’t working there while infected. Bit of confusion this afternoon apparently.

While Nine and Ten both reported tonight, that the employee was not infectious while working.

The media love to create panic. I would be careful what you read and what for the real updates from the health department.

One thing I have noticed here in melbourne since coming back is peoples obsession with everything covid. I know it’s a big issue, I know people from melbourne went through a rough time, but surely there are other things to chat about and not just covid. The panic about another lockdown as well. I keep reminding people it’s one cluster. If it was more widespread then perhaps. But the media have drummed covid into victorians heads and allowed this sense of paranoia to creep in.

Yes other states are not helping the situation with Janette Young this arvo ‘consider very carefully travel to Victoria’ ‘Be reminded that you might not be able to get back’

Sort of comments does nothing to alleviate the tension.

Just shut the damn border and be done with it QLD. Let us prosper as one state like we did in November without any other states hanging threats over our heads. I think many have ruled out interstate holidays this year as it is.

If it’s not listed on the exposure sites then they should not be reporting it. This is the same media / reporters that were questioning the Govt the other day on some venues that were listed and then later refined or removed. Yet they report on unconfirmed exposure…

Yeah these comments by a CHO are not helpful. They surely have a view by now on what they are doing. If they didn’t shut it 3 days ago when there were 10 cases then why start saying these things when it’s seemingly more contained. Just make a decision otherwise stop giving added stress to people with unnecessary fear of border closures.

3 days of 3. Really incredible that the numbers have remained so consistently low.

The UK government has since confirmed that film and TV production will be able to continue during the upcoming lockdown.

Too much stopping and starting in the UK. If they just kept that month long lockdown going in December a few more weeks then they would be in a completely different position. Instead they opened up for a few weeks and just undid everything.

Absolutely half-arsed approach.

DHHS has added more locations in Melbourne’s south east to the exposure sites list.

Springvale shopping centre, near the train station, is a very popular spot to buy fresh produce and Asian groceries for locals and residents from other suburbs, and my parents often go there to buy meat. Looks like they won’t visit Springvale for a while.

Vic Government to hold a second press conference at 1:30pm. The last time they had two in one day, we all know what happened then.

Do we know if today’s three new cases are linked to the Black Rock cluster?

I think the second one is about exemptions given to the Victorians stranded in NSW so they can come home safely, and also new arrangements for people returning to the office from next week.

Lisa Neville said this morning all 3 cases are linked to the back rock cluster
