My sympathy to those forum members who have tested positive. I wish you all a speedy and full recovery.
Out of curiosity, for those who have tested positive. Have you had a booster dose?
The only case I know of, of someone testing positive, is a couple who are friends of friends. Both have tested positive, the wife had received two doses and was very sick, but is recovering. The husband had received three doses and only has very mild symptoms.
Obviously, this is only one case, but I thought it was interesting.
A friend of mine that is boostered has had a few close calls with positive cases over the last few weeks. He’s had numerous tests but has never tested positive himself. He either has really good luck or the booster does significantly reduce chance of transmission.
I got the impression that a recently boosted person is only marginally more protected than a recently double vaxxed person (95% v 93%). So probably an element of luck in that case.
But protection does wane over time in both instances, hence Israel now looking at a 2nd booster shot.
The Israeli Government are looking at a second booster shot while over here in Australia our Government have only just started to roll out booster shots. Just shows the lack of organisation.
Israel are the only country doing a wide scale second booster shot. We don’t need one yet. The purpose of a booster is to increase your immunity. We will have that with our booster.
Not to mention that many experts think giving a fourth shot now is too premature. There is a lot of debate amongst scientists if it is needed and there is not enough data to support it. I’m glad we aren’t the guinea pigs on that.
A Belgian scientific research station in Antarctica is dealing with an outbreak of Covid-19, despite workers being fully vaccinated and based in one of the world’s remotest regions.
Since 14 December, at least 16 of the 25 workers at the Princess Elisabeth Polar Station have caught the virus.
This was also mentioned on Seven News Melbourne tonight.
Not at all, Israel is the only country that has even rolled out 4th shots, let alone indicated that they have plans to do so, and this is likely part of their agreement with Pfizer in which the country of Israel is getting used for research purposes in relation to the Pfizer vax. What you lack to mention with Israel is that their vaccinations rates stalled long ago, and compared to Australia a significant percentage of the population remain unvaxxed.
Good points. People are easily critical of Australia yet we are very close to having 80% of our entire population fully vaccinated. Below are Israel’s vaccination rates. You have to question why they are going to fourth shots when only 46% of people had their third. You’d think they should be pushing harder to fully vaccinate and/or booster more of their population first.
I hope with a lot of backpackers being found and located, it should hopefully start to limit the amount of people getting infected. As I don’t want to see the south west of the state suffer because of them.
I wonder if these latest ones over the last few days are the ones that the Premier was referring to about not being contactable.
EDIT: I note that the Deputy CHO has said in the press conference today, that they haven’t found the smoking gun, and once they have found the backpacker I believe it will uncover the missing link to the cluster in the SW.
Went to go get tested today and the lines were way too long. I used that RAT website to get a rapid test but the places I tried that said they were in stock were actually out of stock. I’m going back home to rest - I feel I am doing more harm than good by going out.
