Black Star, Far North Queenslandâs indigenous community station, has a pretty good playlist:
An interesting mix of old, new, and alternative tracks.
According to the Goulburn LAP, the new 88.9 service is expected to transmit at a maximum ERP of 2kW, which is a big difference from their previous maximum ERP of 100 watts for its 94.5 service.
Thatâs a huge increase. It may even reach Bungendore (94.5 doesnât). I see itâs 2 kW OD too which surprises me, given the nearby services on 88.7.
From Radioinfo:
In the first of a series of results requested from community stations, radioinfo can report that Sydney youth station FBi Radio has increased its audience by over 70,000 monthly listeners since the last survey.
FBi Radioâs combined FM/DAB+ listenership continues to grow to new all time highs, with monthly listenership at 580,000, up from 504,000 in the previous survey, earlier this year.
14% of Sydneysiders now listen to FBi Radio on FM/DAB+ at least monthly. The station also has high awareness, with 877,000 people saying they have heard of FBi Radio.
Time spent listening throughout the week averages 11.3 hours, and listenership is spread throughout Greater Sydney, with 26% of listeners from Western/South Western Sydney and 34% from the City/East Syd/ Inner West.

Those are quite high figures for a station like FBI, particularly as its format is nowhere near as broad as 3RRR or 3PBS. I donât listen because the format is too electronic and dance orientated for my liking, and there is almost no older music played, unlike on the aforementioned Melbourne stations.
Still, the 14% monthly cume is believable since Sydneyâs music scene is heavily geared toward dance and electronic music (Melbourne is the home of indie rock).
Hope 103.2 announced back in February that they were launching their own news service and it now appears it will be launching soon, with one journalist now on staff as the News Director, they are advertising for two more journalists.
So, essentially, you need to say God is good and that weâre all sinners and working that into bulletins?
Like this?
Anyone who is religiophobic wouldnât get the job.
I wonder which âleading Sydney radio & TV journalistâ has joined the new Hope News?
It wouldâve been incredibly fascinating to see how (if?) Hope News wouldâve covered the current/recent saga about a particular rugby player, thatâs for sure!
Or about George Pell and any others in the Church who are engaging in such conduct.
probally the same way vision did - heâs being persecuted his beliefs ectâŚ
If it was ten or twenty years ago Leigh Hatcher would have been an obvious candidate. Other people I can think of are either too expensive, comfortable in other jobs, or too old. Most people donât publicly broadcast their beliefs, so it could be anyone.
@SydneyCityTV Anita Savage Joins Hope
TV and Radio Journalist Anita Savage has been appointed to launch and lead the new Hope Media News Service commencing later this year. Anita had an extensive career in journalism working with 2UE, Sky News, Channel 9, Bloomberg Television and most recently ABC TV and radio. Anita will join the Hope Media team from Monday July 29.
Anita Savage. Ex- Nine, Bloomberg and ABC. Sheâll be News Director.
And he was already part of the station back then too.
Some weeks ago it must be, was announced the ABCâs Anita Savage would be leaving for Hope.
Looking for a change of hours Iâd say, has been working at the ABC coaching presenters and filling in from time to time.
Thanks @fournews for finding the story on Jocksâ Journal.
Thanks guys.
I donât think it was mentioned here at the time, so thatâs why I asked!
I heard Anita Savage presenting national news on ABC during half time of AFL broadcasts on weekends. Great get for Hope.
Its interesting how most commercial radio stations over the past 30 years have scaled back on the newsrooms to save money, yet a community radio has decided to start one.
âBrisbaneâs 1197â ran a sweep saying âonline and on DAB+â.
After doing a quick search I found their new website www.1197.com.au.
Still run by Brisbane Youth Radio (BYR) but thankfully on air messaging is just â1197â.
⌠their music format sounds similar to Zoo Super Digi âŚ
