Still on air, but no audio (hence my “sounds of silence” comment above).
Radio Blue Mountains was also completely off-air this morning. Got ABC RN Mount Ulandra instead.
Blue Mountains are back on air tonight though.
Seems SWR 99.9 is off indefinitely due to storm damage from today’s storms. Power cut
Good news for us, we get to go DXing on that frequency.
I hate to rain on your parade but it came back on air.
Never doubt @Alex_Agaciak and @matt86
From the Breakfast presenter:
Update: No Morning Mix tomorrow morning due to the outage. We were briefly back on tonight until our little Generator popped itself. The aim from our wonderful tech team is to be back on air by tomorrow arvo, just in time for Drive with Linden. Stay posted to SWR 99.9 FM socials for more up to date info
From SWR’s website:
SWR 99.9 FM is currently off-air due to major power outages affecting more than 100 locations across our area. The backup battery powering SWR’s infrastructure has been exhausted.
Endeavour Energy has not yet provided an estimated restoration time.
Our team is working to return services as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
Poor SWR. I’ve been outside their studios for the Blacktown City Show - the showgrounds must’ve been hit badly. We copped it at work but it was wham, bam, thank you ma’am - over very quickly.
Thanks SWR! DXing time! ![]()
Oh dear, when it rains it pours!
(Pardon the pun)
We were lucky to get through yesterday unscathed at Braidwood FM; even though we didn’t have microburst storms the wind was savage for hours. Even if something did go up the mountain, there probably would have been trees down over the access track.
SWR has returned to air (audio programming) in the past couple of minutes. ![]()
They recovered SWR pretty quick considering the issue they had and they are a community station.
On a different topic, just wondering has anyone been to Darwin and tuned into TEABBA.
I wonder if they do RDS frequency swapping (AF) in Darwin.
Good on them for securing some LPONs and displacing the god squad usuals.
They were playing some good music too. The people behind the mic sounded like some good easy going guys (when I listened that is). Heard some good Aboriginal rock music as well as some good 80s pop hits.
A trailblazer for women in radio: RIP Nadya Anderson
Melbourne’s Triple R community community is mourning the loss of one of its original trailblazers in Nadya Anderson, who recently passed away at the age of 72 after battling cancer.
Nadya was one of the first volunteer and music coordinators at the legendary community station in the late 1970s.
4ZZZ’s 50th anniversary.
Birthed by students who shared a passion for music, politics, and technology, 4ZZZ hit the airwaves on December 8, 1975, broadcast from a hand-built transmitter in a DIY studio on University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus.
News report
An important milestone is about to be reached for Brisbane radio. The achievement will mark exactly 50 years since Australia's first community station 4ZZZ burst onto the then vacant, FM dial. pic.twitter.com/nu2BJewHFP
