Sure thing bud.
Agreed. And set Richard Quest free from the purgatory of his flash set! When they let him run around the big set in London itâs a completely different show.

UPDATE: analysis by The Age/SMHâs Michael Coziol (paywall)
Look, if a news network can piss off darling Donny-pooâs administration, chances are their reports are right on the money. Keep at it CNN.
Sadly they wonât be able to for long.
Anderson âlive from the newsroomâ tonight. Interesting setup and very casual look for him with the loosened tie
I saw this the other day, so I assume itâs not a one off. Feels like theyâre going for the Podcast crowd?
Theyâve experimented this style for one week. Just trying to see what sticks, I guess.
I much preferred the the other setup. Different presentation angles etc.
Either way as long as they donât go back to the 90âs underwater and chrome background anyhting is better.
Also, a wink to Larry King Live?
That was actually the first thing I thought of when I saw it
Some interesting presenter changes this week (I think itâs spring break over in America):
- Erica Hill has been hosting News (Spaceport) Central alongside Sara Sidner
- Phil Mattingly in for Jake Tapper on The Lead (an upgrade, IMO)
- Newsnight has come from DC all week with Kasie Hunt
Erica, Phil and Kasey are all guns.
Love Phil
No Jake at all will be good for the world of CNN.
At least theyâre going down swinging with their coverage, soon enough theyâre a state mouthpiece.
Tapper added, âOur job is not to try and please the president or only report the statements he likes. Weâre going to tell you whatâs going on, and weâre going to keep doing that, no matter how many lies this administration or the Iranians tell.â
The cable news move towards podcasting style is quite interesting. MS NOW for example has recently integrated podcast shows and content into their programming line up.
The style is seen as more authentic and engaging with a belief that this is what a younger audience is looking for rather than big sets, rigid rundowns, polished packages and tailored suits.
I think the emphasis on conversation and ideas will be more fruitful in growing cable news audiences than traditional news presentation, which while we may love, is seen by many younger viewers as something their parents watched.
