I was expecting more. Not dissimilar to MSNBC’s various efforts.
Also reminds me of early 2000’s 7News.

Umm, lol
A week after launching a new look, gone. Jesus.
Is CNN still in SD on Foxtel?
Last time I checked yeah, CNN, MSNBC and BBC were still standard, but anything more to the right of spectrum or sharing a branding they use in Australia, in full glorious HD
CNN has just confirmed his resignation. Amy Entelis, Virginia Moseley and Eric Sherling temporarily taking over.
Here’s The Atlantic’s article that list these blunders, and that caused his eventual resignation (paywalled, but freely accesible with a trial):
Launches new graphics for the first time in almost 8 years then CEO leaves
It was more than just the graphics. He was a disaster and ruined the brand. The worst tenure known to man. Lots at CNN would be celebrating today.
I know you’re prone to hyperbole - but there’s a legitimate argument that Zucker’s tenure was worse.
I think both were as bad as each other, in their own ways. Zucker seemed to just relish the non-stop Trump-bashing, and massaged the presenters’ egos too much.
Licht went too far in the other direction, trying to court Trump supporters, the type of people who would never watch CNN in a million years (some of these people think Fox News is too woke, FFS!). Not helped in this respect by one of the board members (John Malone) declaring that CNN should be ‘more like Fox News’ (I mean, really?!).
To his credit, Licht did have some good ideas, like the breakfast show and News Central. And the new graphics are lovely. But you don’t badmouth your staff in a magazine and expect to get away with it. Good riddance.
Phil Mattingly hosting CNN This Morning with Poppy. Surely he’s a real chance for the role.
I was, and still am, a supporter of the vision for a less-partisan CNN.
It is regretful Chris Licht did not get the chance to execute his plan.
However I feel he was not a good fit for the role, and lacked some of the skills needed for an elegant execution.
I hope his replacement is a success.
As the temporary leadership has taken over day-to-day management, CNN has officially moved its MCR from CNN Center to Techwood, according to this memo. Although they say it happened on Monday, maybe it happened when they debuted the new insert graphics? Just saying…
And it looks like CNN is back to the OTT “Breaking News” mode… Today, for the first time since the Licht era, and after the announcement of the OceanGate debris find, all and every block of Inside Politics and the afternoon CNN News Central (from Washington) have been beginning with the ominous “This is CNN Breaking News” stinger in Zucker-style fashion… Even the show was fully dedicated to the story (no politics at all) and aired commercial-free. Yes, this is indeed big news given the seriousness of the event, but during the Trump indictments, they did not use the stinger at all, instead going for the low-key bumpers they use since the impeachment.
Hoping this situation won’t mean Zaslav’s and Malone’s plans to bring back CNN to a less-partisan agenda will get fully scrubbed and editorial decisions will get back to non-stop Trump-bashing, tabloid reporting, egotistic pundit-like presenters, “Facts First” false balance, event-like town halls and debates (including ESPN-style wraparound shows) and overtly fact-check-laden, aggressive and confrontative “embrace debate”.
I don’t think CNN not using certain stings means they’re going back to 'non-stop Trump bashing".
They seem to be spending more time on the missing sub than Trump in recent days.
All news channels have because it’s been getting huge views
