Some horrible looking temps coming up for regional VIC centres (and SA Riverland) over the next few days..
Mildura and Renmark forecast to hit 47 by Tuesday, with temps above 40 every day from tomorrow until next Wednesday.
Bendigo 44 by Tuesday as well.
Stay safe Victorians and SA and fingers crossed no more fires.
Reminds me of January-February 2009. If anything that event had consistently higher temps, especially South of the Divide.
Tomorrow’s forecast here at 2pm. If that temperature / dew point combo does happen I might not live to tell the tale…
Swan Hill forecast for Tuesday has been bouncing between 47 and 48C all week. Here is the 7 day outlook I captured earlier today.
Massive snowstorm impacting just about everyone in the U.S.
It’ll wrap up tomorrow, leave behind plenty of power outages, travel headaches and sadly, deaths.
Ironically ICE is a big story over there. (°F)
I was at a friend’s place yesterday and he doesn’t have air con
I feel wiped out in these conditions ,high humidity and dew point if I’m not at home with my air con going like it is today
I’m not going to worry about my next power bill now ,I’ll be paying more per fortnight to make up for the extra usage.I’d rather be comfortable in this weather
Saw at 4am CDST Adelaide was still 36 degrees. That is just CRAZY stuff. Must be a record of some sort.
Yep.
Today’s minimum temperature is 34.4°C, half a degree ahead of the record set in January 29, 2009.
Highest ever since comparable records began in 1887 for Adelaide.
If the city needs a silver lining, in the upcoming 7-day period the highest min will only be 23°.
“If we do get that 49C at Ouyen, then that could be a new state record for Victoria,” she said.
Mildura is also forecast to reach 49C, according to updated forecasts issued on Monday — 2 degrees above its all-time record.
Melbourne is slated to reach 44C for the first time since Black Saturday, a day in which 173 people were killed during Australia’s deadliest bushfire.
Victoria has just broken its hottest recorded temperature in history. The township of Ouyen just just past 48.9 degrees. It’s expected to go slightly higher in the next hour.
Walpeyup and Hopetoun also reached 48.9C today.
Melbourne’s maximum temperature was 42.7C.
Walpeup is routinely one of the hottest towns in Victoria - the only reason I know of it’s existence is Paul Higgins routinely referring to it when talking about top temps across the state. But wow, nudging 49 in Victoria is something else
We are now in the era where 49C is possible anywhere at sea level in mainland Australia (maybe not the deep tropics) given the right conditions.
The absolute max thus far in Bungendore (700 m) is 42C, set during 2019-20. Today will come close to that with 42C forecast for Canberra, so will be about 40-41 here. Omeo got 40.5 yesterday so will probably be around that here.
Omeo notably had a temperature range of 7.7-40.5 yesterday, that has to be a record diurnal range for the town. Not quite that good here but we had a minimum of around 11 this morning. Hard to believe it will be 40 this afternoon with such a pleasant start.
Gotta Love Australian Weather - 37° one day, 25° the next. Not to mention - severe storms on Sunday.. and suppose to get one around 12an Monday. To make matters worse? Guess who starts Year 10 on the Monday… Me..
Honestly - Bring on Autumn already!
It’s hard to believe that today marks 17 years since Victoria’s Black Saturday bushfires of 2009.
Very yucky / humid QLD like weather here in NSW today..
31 degrees and dew point of 24.2…
Inside with the air con, needless to say
36° in the Lower Clarence. Suppose to be some rain this afternoon. So - this ‘Heavy Rain’ is suppose to kick in overnight. I doubt it - Everything goes around Grafton these days
Cooler here, but still feels pretty muggy.
Cooler southerly change due this afternoon (which I’m very much looking forward too), o/night temps dropping back to 16-17 for the next week, which will be very welcome after a few muggy nights.
