@dxnerd it was reported on the news tonight that the overnight minimum in Thredbo last night was -13, the coldest in 45 years. I know you love your cold weather, but I reckon that’s probably too cold even for you!

Yeah, even the -8s we had back in June was a bit chilly in an Australian house (would be fine in Canada, though).

That is a remarkable temperature for Thredbo Top Station given where it is, near the top of the chairlift. Normally the coldest temperatures are in depressions like Kiandra and to a lesser extent Perisher Valley. Unfortunately Charlotte Pass is no longer operating; it was probably colder than -13 yesterday.

Another cold spot is the Crackenback Valley (around the SkiTube base station and just east). You regularly get -10 and below there; there are a few private weather stations on Wunderground.

Foggy start in Sydney and Brisbane

‘Fog warnings’, lol. Here on the tablelands it’s foggy more often than not, particularly in autumn and early winter. No warnings for us. Not surprised at the extensive fog as the rain cleared overnight in Sydney.

It’s still raining lol!

Adelaide’s turn this morning

Today was warm in Central Eastern NSW, but the Coffs Harbour max temperature really surprised me. Unusual for this time of the year, but still well short of the August record of 35.1 degrees set 31st Aug only last year.

Forecast: :cloud_with_rain: :rainbow: :cloud_with_lightning_and_rain:

The Bureau of Meteorology’s (BOM) official long-range outlook for the season, released on Thursday, shows wetter-than-average conditions are favoured for much of the country’s east.

This is particularly likely for the earlier part of the season, according to BOM senior climatologist Simon Grainger.

“The strongest chances of above average rainfall are in September and October,” Dr Grainger said.

“For November, there are still chances of above-average rainfall, but it’s more around a 60-65 per cent chance.”

Can the rain just rack off for a while? I’d like a few days so I can put my washing on the line and not have to take it to the self service laundromat.

It has barely rained this week? And next week is looking pretty good too.

Yeah, on and west of the Range is getting some love for a change.

There should be a half decent snowfall across the Oberon Plateau tomorrow morning as well, at least 5 cm in the higher parts above 1200 m with a chance at 10 cm in some places. Unfortunately I can’t chase to Oberon tomorrow as there’s a Braidwood FM OB late morning from Nerriga but I might head up to the Crookwell area early morning for a look. After the OB I’ll be heading to Sydney for an all day V set tour on Sunday so it will be a big weekend for me!

Good. As long as the wind is not gale force. Lost power yesterday whilst I was at work due to a tree coming down. Wind will dry the clothes quicker.

I heard you mention that on your show yesterday, I think you mentioned “Sat 31st” (when it’s Sat 30th, or the Sunday). Hopefully they knew you meant 30th.

Thanks for keeping me honest  Yeah, I make too many silly mistakes like that, wasn’t at my best yesterday. Sorry.

Oh and another question, i know you make reference to a place sometimes that sounds like “Wolfie’s Den” … where is it, or what is it? I can’t find it on Google Maps
.

Lol- now it’s you who has made a silly error.

‘Wolfie’ is a requester and I simply call Cooma (where he lives) the ‘Wolfie’s Den’.
