Classic TV Listings

you did say it started in 1973 and other than Saturday 8 May, this is the only evidence it was in 1976 on the TV guide

What year are these listings from. Judging from World Championship Wrestling it would’ve been mid to late 70s

Was always surprised that not more regional channels in Victoria carried IMT. GLV10 seems to have been the only one to carry it for any length of time.

I wonder if it was an exercise show. An workout 15 minutes before bed/close…you’d be buggered, no doubt about it!

Wouldn’t this be better as the first program of the day, instead of the last?

Also…I’m going to hell for saying this…but to hell with it…

I wonder if this had any effect on certain kinds of randy people before they went to bed…

Some rather unusual regional timeslots for Sale Of The Century - 11.30am on NBN and 3.30pm on WIN! Presumably forced to air the gameshow earlier in the day due to drama quota regulations and/or because Nine wanted Paradise Beach on at 5.30pm?

It’s unclear why WIN and/or NBN couldn’t have aired Sale Of The Century at 5.00pm. Not sure why ancient re-runs of Happy Days got preference!

And for fans of Tim Bailey, he’s hosting The Big Breakfast on Ten at 7am!

I noticed on the 9 and 10 listings that for a regional variation some listings say WR. I’m guessing Western Region?

There’s some typically classy programming on Sally Jesse Raphael and Donahue!

That WR listing is puzzling; I don’t remember seeing it in the 90s, only the NBN and WIN opt outs. I notice that NBN’s Today Extra isn’t there. I always wanted NBN as a kid because they stuck with Romper Room a lot longer and it was a treat to watch it up at Coffs :grinning:

Donahue was really good before the likes of Sally Jesse and Springer came along and he had to start to compete with their outlandish subject matter. He covered a lot of worthy topics and interviewed all the big stars. I watched a good interview he conducted with Bette Davis in 1987 on You Tube a few months ago after having watched the Feud mini series.

“This Morning” at 10.30am is an NBN programing variant on that listing, maybe the program was rebranded as or replaced by “Today Extra” at some point?

I’m a little surprised that 7 even bothered to show the SA vs WA AFL Origin match at all, let alone at 11:45 (SA won easily and won the whole carnival beating Victoria 3 days later). In those days night matches were rarely shown or were shown on next day delay in that part of Australia.

A bit more recent than some of my usuals but how much more interesting are Saturday nights even just 7 years ago? Doctor Who, Iron Chef, Rockwiz, Funniest Home Videos (if you’re into that sort of thing)… or if you’re into reality shows, So You Think You Can Dance and The Biggest Loser US on Eleven

We might have more channels now but I don’t know if we’re now any better off

7 years ago Saturday arvo afl games were delayed by 1 hour on Ten in Victoria. I cannot remember whether they had delayed or live coverage of the Saturday arvo games on Ten in SA/WA.
