You’d think they could at least negotiate a late night screening, rather than not at all.

NBN3 scheduled Friday Night Football for 2 hours and 15 minutes, but Channel 10 only scheduled it fir 2 hours.

Also Friday Night Football was on 10 at 8:30pm, I only ever remember 10 airing it at 7:30pm. Was this a change in 1991 from the scheduling in 1988-1990?

I think I recall TEN moving it back to delayed telecasts because there were complaints about missed tries (as they would sometimes occur during an ad break).

Obviously there wasn’t much pre/post match then to make up for the ads compared to how they do it now.

You’ve posted this guide before

Looked like WIN did a decent job rearranging the late night programming to cut out the repeats airing on Nine so they could fit in the WIN Late News bulletin and new programming like Late Show, Ananda Lewis, Brooklyn South and Entertainment Tonight encore. Unlike NBN and Prime where some new programs skipped episodes, aired randomly or not at all because the timeslot conflicted with their precious home shopping programming.

a lot of them are re-runs :stuck_out_tongue:

One program I couldn’t help but notice on the NBN3 schedule was Chris Conroy’s World of Boats. I don’t recall ever seeing it in Sydney but it seemed to be on every regional channel in Australia.

Possibly because they could get it cheap and not have to negotiate with 7, 9 or 10 for it?

I wonder if it was paid programming? Or even given it to them for free as IIRC it was virtually infomercials for selling boats??

Possibly, I couldn’treally remember exactly what it was about… that one had sailed out of my mind.

It was a staple on QTQ9 during the 80’s - appearing at 6.30am weekends. I’m pretty sure QTQ had a hand in editing the program.

It was renamed Chrid Conroys Leisureworld in late 1980s/early 1990s

They did, until Chris ended up building his own setup. This is a good insight into what he did.

I did hear that NRTV did help in the later years, but I am not sure of that was fact, speculation or whether the NRTV were used at all either leased or a co-production

The piece in the ‘TV Tonight’ article about NBN News changes which stated that the current 1 hour NBN News format was introduced in 1972, reminded me that, sometime ago, I looked up what format news NBN had prior to then.

This from the ‘Newcastle Herald and Miners Advocate’ Thursday 10 February 1972. Sadly the font is very small and a bit hard to read.

There was a ‘Regional Roundup’ at 6.20pm followed by ‘News’ at 6.25pm… not sure if the 6.25 bulletin is a local one and/or if it comprised a 7 or 9 News relay (which began at 6.30pm).

By my reckoning they were the 10 replay for

1988: Rd 4 vs Manly

1989: Rd 8 vs Canterbury, Rd 20 vs Brisbane

1990: Rd 6 vs Brisbane? (certainly shown into Brisbane), Rd 12 vs Cronulla, Rd 22 vs Balmain

Thanks for these dates.

The TV Guides in the SMH archives only confirmed match details for two of the above games (1988 vs Manly and 1989 vs Brisbane).

But on all of the above 6 dates, none of the games was shown on NBN any earlier than 10.15 (the 2 guides I can confirm match details involving the Knights are below).

Nice find!

Though in relation to WIN-4, I wonder what’s the difference between a “Regional Roundup” at 6.10pm and “Local News” at 6.15pm… they sound like the same thing to me?

The NBN-3 guide I posted a few days ago from 1972 was kind of similar with a “Regional Roundup” at 6.20pm and “News” at 6.25pm (which looked it was a 35 minute composite local/national bulletin).

ABC TV used to do a “Regional Roundup” at 6.55pm in the 1980s, but these were aired just before the 7pm Sydney/NSW bulletin.
