Yes, that was a real mess, apparently according to Wikipedia, John Burgess did not know he was sacked when the last Adelaide based show was taped, and found out accidentally. He was later offered his job back with a pay rise, but declined and went on to Channel 9 to do Catch Phrase.
Adriana disappeared due to illness in late 1996, to return in mid 1997 to continue until 1999.
I watched a few of Tony Barber’s episodes and it just was not the same without Burgo.

I really liked Burgo he was treated appallingly by Seven I don’t blame him moving to Nine. What happened to Rob? He seems to have disappeared after Wheel of Fortune was axed. I thought he was ok but nowhere near as good as Burgo

Messing about with the lead in game show also didn’t help. Family Feud I guess didn’t last long with John Deeks hosting following Rob Brough, then they tried Concentration (in essence a memory game) which was a vehicle to keep Mike Hammond in the network when Gladiators wound up, then came Hot Streak (can’t remember a lot about it but there was a key word in which a team of 4 tried to guess using clues from the preceding team member), and finally All Star Squares which was a pale imitation of Hollywood Squares with Ian Rogerson hosting.

  1. Kevin Crease switched from ADS7 to NWS9 and joined Rob Kelvin at the news desk, with Caroline Ainslie going from NWS9 to ADS7 (later ADS10 after Adelaide’s Great TV Channel Swap). Kevin Crease and Rob Kelvin’s partnership lasted until 2007, when Creasey retired due to illness and subsequently died in April that year.

ABV2 had a 1 hour news bulletin at 6pm following by another bulletin at 7.00pm??

I think the 6.00 program might have been a tiny bit of news but a lot of football replays, analysis, etc. To title the whole thing News was perhaps a little misleading?

The SBS screened The Ashes between England and Australia. I noticed that former Australian Cricketer Michael Slater commentated on The Ashes. I wonder if this was Slater’s first commentary stint in his career. As I noticed on the Guide, SBS took the Channel 4 feed.
I noticed during the Ashes Telecast, SBS screened the Stage 19 of Tour de France. I wondered whether this period was during Tea Time?

Didn’t he used to do commentary for Fox Sports?
