That was hardly uncommon, especially during summers when the West Indies would tour here which they did in 2005/06

WIN skipped the Caufield Cup Horse racing as there was not enough timeslots available in the schedule. Even that, WIN showed the Brazilian F1 GP earlier than TEN Perth.
ABC had quite a heavy sports lineup with Wheelchair Basketball, the WNBL, the W-League soccer and the Lawn Bowls.

The Super Series being an ICC thing had a mixture of 9 and world commentators, Ravi Shastri also I believe was part of the team.

Real 90’s Sunday television there.

Just randomly Nine had the World Series rights for 1993 (Toronto Blue Jays won BTW)

Noticed that Seven and TEN both run midday movies in the same timeslot.

That had been going on for about 6 weeks at this point. Ten began airing midday movies when Seven was broadcasting the 2004 Athens Olympics I could only assume they wanted to fill the void for people who enjoyed the Seven midday movie. It is interesting they kept airing them post-Athens but I guess they thought they could take a chunk out of the Seven audience

Also worth noting that around this time, Ten shifted its “News @ Noon” bulletin back to the 11:30am timeslot, presumably due to poor ratings.

I remember Around Australia with Malcolm Douglas, my Dad preferred Baywatch as it was more exciting.

I also remember Sofie Formica doing Now You See It, only did it for a couple of years(alternating with Blockbusters in 12 week blocks). Blockbusters was hosted by Michael Pope.

I believe they only had them during the CBS era of baseball (1990-1993) and even then it wasn’t until 1991 or 1992 that they started showing a late night game of the week. Of course due to a player strike there was no 1994 WS (the rights were split between American ABC and NBC in a “baseball network” arrangement), then 10 showed 1997 (an NBC series, between 96-2000 they and Fox alternated WS) and SBS (via an international feed) showed 2002 but I can’t recall any other World Series being on FTA TV. These would sometimes be buried on Tuesday Mornings if there was an IndyCar race that weekend which would be early Monday Morning.

When did Seven started News Overnight?

From Wikipedia:

The Seven Network in Australia had a similar program with the same name (minus the “NBC”) airing overnights on weeknights between 1985 and 1989. Clips from NBC News programs would often be shown within the broadcast.

1986 was a great time to be four years old, 4 year old me just loved the ABC childrens lineup combination of Mr Squiggle, Sesame Street, Play School, Hunter and Sooty.

The ABC showed Sooty until the early 90’s.

Nine Perth broadcasted an International Rules match between Australia and Ireland at 8:30pm (on delayed telecast). I didn’t realise that Brian Taylor called an International Rules match. After that, Nine broadcasted an International Rugby League Test match between Australia and New Zealand from Ericsson Stadium (aka Mt Smart Stadium) in Auckland.
