Classic TV Listings

I just had another look at that guide from the Sunday Mail and it appears that the NEN/ECN, NRTV schedules are exactly the same. It must be a mistake because both stations definitely had different schedules. NEN ECN showed Home and Away while NRTV didn’t.

Good pick up, must have been a big typo!

btw looking at…

Does anyone from Sydney recall what Magazine 7 was? Some sort of morning chat show scattered with infomercials like we have today?

I think it was a local Sydney “Community Billboard” type of affair. Advertising for charity fundraisers, church and school fetes, sporting and recreational events, club meeting dates. I’m sure that quaint old phrase “ladies, bring a plate” was used regularly.

HSV-7 doesn’t sign on til 2pm. Also great that there were three live and local shows at 5pm to choose from.

The listing shows a debut for The Thorn Birds, though it dated back to 1983 and I’m sure aired in Australia before 1988, especially given its Australian origins. I wonder if this might be a “debut on Nine” as it was previously a Network Ten title IIRC.

Being the Olympics I have some caps from that night.

I take it the ‘43 days to go’ meant 43 days till the end of Expo '88?

Correct.
