My understanding is Hitch and Hendo shared newsreading duties for national and world news and there were windows for state/city specific news. I’ve only ever seen brief clips. Wish there was a full bulletin in existence somewhere. I’d love to see how it was structured.

I remember watching it. My memory is as you said. Sport was local with Ron Casey reading the sport on TCN iirc, and I also seem to recall that the weather was local too.

Thought that would have to be the case. Thanks for confirming. I was barely out of nappies at the time and my parents always watched channel four news followed by Roger on relay from Seven.

@NewsWeary You mean Roger Climpson?

Yes. Always loved Roger and his signature little wink at the end of the news. He was a grandfatherly figure to me when I was a kid and the sad thing about that is he was younger than what I am now at the time I was idolising him.

He was a true gentleman, and no doubt still is.

The ABC had British soccer highlights in mid-evening. I always thought those shows aired in late nights.

Mike Walsh on Seven was only one hour? I wonder why it was edited down from 90 mins, which was the duration on Ten in Sydney.

Not sure. ADS7 must have just decided to cut it down to fit the hour.

Got to give it to 10 back then. Having 2 local dramas playing back to back together was rare. Part from News and the odd variety show, local content wasn’t high on the agenda.

it was three dramas, Matlock Police as well :wink: But that was a weekly show. Number 96 and The Box were on Monday-Thursday

It was clear though, that this was a break through for the 0/10 network at the time.

Never realised The Young and the Restless ever screened on Ten - thought it had been on Nine its entire time here in Oz.

I think the young & the restless was also on TVW7 Perth at one point.

I believe it was on Nine in Sydney and Melbourne but other cities it varied due to different ownerships. As did a lot of shows.

Neighbours i believe continued on TVW7 even after the Seven Network gave it the axe.
