I always wonder that why a program had to be listed twice in TV Week listings if it began before 6pm? In the Brisbane listings above, World Soccer on SBS was not only listed twice but also had the wrong duration (it should have been 60 minutes).

So that it had a uniform 6.00 “line” across all channels. The portion from 6.00 went 30 minutes, as shown.

Guessing this was a “rename” of remaining episodes of Class Of 75 which had been axed during the previous year?

Still about 5 weeks before the official switch over to colour T.V. but they were doing test transmissions in colour for quite a while beforehand i believe.

test colour transmissions commenced October 1974

Those late night SBS movies sure came in handy for the desperate and dateless in the pre internet era.

Saturday Disney was awesome back in the day.

I think 1990 was the only time Australian Open clashed against Commonwealth Games.
I also notice that Australasian Country Music Awards (now called the Golden Guitar Awards) was shown live on a commercial network 30 years ago, unlike this year’s awards which had a 90 minute highlights on the ABC the afternoon after they were held.

I like the ABC’s answer to covering 2 events pre multi channels just whack them both on at once and scoot between the two.

pity they couldn’t have been on friendlier terms with SBS and have SBS show one of ABC’s events, and have ABC show the other. That way, not having to muck around viewers of both events.
