Is that Beverly Hills 902010 shifted on TV3 that year with an two-hour special?

Nope. Beverly Hills 90210 made the jump from TVNZ to TV3 (now Three) in 1994.

I bet it did well on 3 than TVNZ

And it was shown on TV4 when it launched in 1997.

Thanks for letting me know that the library has archives of old Listener magazines. I found them today at my Tauranga library, and checked out some from 1989. Was great to see the TV listings for each day, to see if I could remember some of those very days when I was 6.

At 9.45pm on the evening of Wednesday 8 May 1974, the last in the first series of “Buck House” (New Zealand’s first sitcom) was broadcast on NZBC TV. It chronicled the misadventures of the various university students who end up in a dilapidated Wellington flat.

In the final episode - “Escorts Unlimited Ltd”, by Ian Mune - Joe Donovan’s (played by Tony Barry, who went on to star in the film “Goodbye Pork Pie”) plans for making a mint out of an escort service were sharply modified when Jo Carr (Jacqui Dunn) brought a friend home for coffee.

Keep an eye out for a fast-talking, afro-headed Paul Holmes as Reg Willis and Myra de Groot (later to play the role of Eileen Clarke in the Australian soap “Neighbours”) as Mrs Platt. You can watch the final episode of “Buck House” through NZ On Screen (click the link above).

Interesting to see Aussie actor Tony Barry in that. Myra de Groot had certainly been all over the place, she had also been in US sitcoms like Bewitched before going to NZ and then Australia.

Weird to see EastEnders was on TV2, I thought it always a TV One programme, plus what is a result for first Wimbledon coverage

EastEnders initially screened on TV One (now TVNZ 1) in a double episode format on Fridays at 7.30pm since August 1985 (I think). Over the summer of 1985/86, the soap screened five nights a week at 7pm (I think) in order to catch up with the UK.

Less than a year later, it moved to single episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays in the same timeslot.

In 1987, EastEnders moved to TV2 (now TVNZ 2) and a third episode on Wednesdays was added.

By 1990 it was back on TV One

During 1989/90, EastEnders switched channels and aired in different timeslots until mid-May 1990 when it was scheduled in a Sunday lunchtime slot (12 noon) on TV2 or Channel 2 as it was called in those days (now TVNZ 2), with a ‘double episode’ format.

@OnAir Recorded before an audience at the Christchurch Town Hall, “McPhail and Gadsby” premiered on TV One (now TVNZ 1) at 8.30pm on the evening of Wednesday 7 July 1980.

Starring David McPhail and Jon Gadsby (from “A Week of It”), “McPhail and Gadsby” began life as a seven-part series that looked at some of the things that made life worthwhile - religion, sex, medicine, money, crime, death and war. Each programme in that series contained sketches and songs related to the topic of the week.

Within the next year, the single subject version of the “McPhail and Gadsby” brand was replaced with a political satire version that ran until 1987. During its seven-year run, it won “Best Entertainment Programme” at the 1983 and 1985 Feltex Awards and was nominated for “Best Entertainment Programme” at the 1986 National Mutual Gofta Awards.

The first instalment of “McPhail and Gadsby” plunged into religion as the object of satire, and the result spawned death threats and annoyed letters to the editor. You can watch it through NZ On Screen by clicking its link below.

Both of them must dressed them of an angel so cutely, and that cracks me up.
