I don’t like them either. It isn’t something Dan Rather or Walter Cronkite would have allowed a network to do, and it isn’t fitting for a newscast’s opening. An anchor should be able to speak for themselves and prove their worth through the substance of the broadcast and their conduct in the field.

Agree. Makes the intro more about him and it comes off egotistical rather than it focusing on the actual…. News.

Not even a week and it’s already civil war over there.

To be fair, that’s reflective of the state of America. Which is what they’re claiming to do anyway.

Maybe Ellison should just pay whatever Zaslav wants for the WBD deal, fold CNN into CBS News, and have Anderson Cooper join Tony Dokoupil at the anchor desk.

but why though?

CBS News is on the fast track to becoming a right wing mouthpiece. We don’t need CNN to fold into that, let alone suddenly lose the brand recognition of CNN.

Not to mention how Anderson Cooper wouldn’t be the right fit for CBS’ current strategy.

Dokoupil is ex-CNN before moving to CBS, and Cooper has long-standing ties to CBS as a freelancer, most notably through 60 Minutes. Tony tends to work best in a team format, and Anderson would be a credible, familiar co-anchor if CBS ever retools the Evening News again—assuming a Paramount-Skydance acquisition of WBD. That said, it may still clash with CBS’s current strategy and risks diluting CNN’s brand, which is why your skepticism is valid.

Isn’t Netflix buying WBD and CNN?

WBD has rejected Para’s bid 8 separate times now

Wasn’t he MSNBC?

CNN is part of the Discovery half that Netflix didn’t buy. Netflix only bid for the streaming and movie studio business.

Because it doesn’t have a “with” suffix. Simple.

That’s a much better set compared to a newsroom set. The current one is very much 80’s/90’s vibes

Don’t understand why the weeknight edition can’t continue to look like this.
Stunning look.

Also just very inconsistent across the network, looks sloppy.

To be expected when they have four different morning news shows using variants of combining the words “morning” and “news”.
