Correct, exit at Oxenford just over the Coomera River and head east to the coast at Paradise Point via Hope Island, signal all the way.
@Brianc68 is correct, on the M1, signal is lost beyond Movie World. If the ERP to the SE is increased, it won’t help far in that particular spot, FM is tough there too through to Nerang.
Got my ASX this afternoon.so far have been listening to Smooth FM and Coles radio on DAB while driving. I don’t feel like this car is too big for me anymore ,enjoying driving it already
I don’t think I’ll ever go back to listening to mainstream radio in the car anymore,it’s DAB all the time now,Except when I’m out of range or driving through the tunnels.
Tried the coast road? Exit south of Dreamworld, towards and over Hope Island, then to Paradise Point, out at their shops and south, keeping Runaway Bar shopping centre on your right.
Just picked up a Focus Active with Sync 3. Loving having 12 presets that allow DAB, FM and AM stations to be preset all together mixed up in the same place. Currently I’ve got the following preset
Smooth DAB
Easy Hits DAB
The 80s DAB
4KQ DAB
MMM GHD DAB
MMM Classic Rock DAB
River 949 FM
Breeze 92 FM
Rebel 905 FM
99.7 FM
ABC Radio National DAB
4KQ on AM - for the tunnels
Great to be able to just scroll through them seamlessly without having to change bands.
Hi there. It was a pretty hard choice between the ST-Line and Active actually. I really liked the ST-Line wagon actually but at the end of the day I didn’t need the extra space, although it was a fantastic drive. The Active has a slightly higher drive, not as high as an SUV but noticeably higher, which surprisingly I really liked. The Active also has the more advanced independent rear suspension and handled just a bit smoother than the ST-Line hatch. The ST-Line wagon also has the IRS and is great too. At the end of the day it was the slightly higher driving position and also the looks
The mixing of the presets is something I didn’t realise I could do until last night - I’ve had it a week lol. I actually had to Google it because I couldn’t work out how to do the presets by band - then I realised I didn’t need to…
I’ll have to play around with the radio in my ASX and work out how to save presets for the radio, .I usually scroll with the mode switch on the steering wheel.DAB-FM-AM -Bluetooth ,etc and select radio station on the touchscreen.
its still a thrill to me to have a car radio like this one as I’ve gone from owning a 10 year old car (that didn’t even have Bluetooth😳)to now a 3 year old one,Car audio technology has gone ahead in leaps and bounds in that time.I’ve already worked out how to save DAB presets in order of preferences
I took delivery of a 2019 i30 today. I’ll hopefully get round to doing some DAB+ range tests over the next month. I’ll also give streaming via the iPhone a go; it will be good to listen to stations like Rebel, Breeze, 2XL, 4AM, Radio Caroline etc. whilst on the go. I have a large data allowance so that won’t be an issue.
I’ll do a proper AM/FM sensitivity test tomorrow morning from my local park; I expect that with the ‘shark fin’ antenna, results on FM will be inferior to my 2006 Astra.
My DAB presets in order DAB 1:
1: Smooth DAB
2: Coles Radio
3:4KQ DAB
4: The 90s
5:The 80s
6:Easy Hits
DAB 2:
1:Koffee
2:The Edge Digital
Haven’t filled this one yet suppose I can add MMM Classic ,my first 6 are the DAB stations I listen to more often
Yesterday I drove through Clem 7 and changed to ABC Classic FM while in tunnel
What kind of noise do you hear on AM @Brianc68? Do you get ingress of noise from the car, more electrical noise surrounding or simply weaker overall?
The first two I put down to poor shielding of the cable.
Have discussed with members here to replace the cable on my Astra, but have seen the light (one third the cost of servicing I’ve researched, mechanic feels it’s right too) and moving to Toyota, will assess what any future purchase is like there.
