They still do. They take mornings and afternoons from 2GB, amongst others.
I donāt know about format but Canberra needs a station called Capital FM. Iām actually surprised SCA donāt brand 104.7 as Capital, similar to B105, 2DAY, SEA & co within the Hit network. I know itās easier for them with the generic Hit brand, but Canberra and Newcastle are big enough that they should warrant their own brand.
Maybe they donāt want confusion with the capital radio network .?
Agree, and Channel 10 might still hold a āCapitalā trademark from when the TV station there was called that.
Trademarks are fairly easily challenged if theyāre not being used, and I doubt it would be an issue with one brand being for TV and another for radio.
Though I remember 10Boss had to be changed to 10Bold because Fairfax objected as it had āBossā magazine.
But at least they were using the brand.
Under Australian law the trademark must be used continuously for 3 years (prior to application for removal) or it can be removed for non use. To successfully defend a non-use challenge the owner must provide evidence of real commercial use of the trademark continuously for 3 years up to 1 month prior to the application.
