BCM it a great facility… but it’s always been under utilised by the Network with television productions.

how is it underutilised?

Comparison to Martin Place.

Also, most of the upper levels are now empty I believe.

I have never been to BCM but every other TV studio I have been in recently has a utilisation level somewhere between genteel decay and abandonment. Even the currently used ones have a ‘ready to move out’ look about them. Sadly a lot of the male staff still have remnants of the mullet from when they were hip 30 years ago and look like they urgently need to retire now.

Hope everyone is have a great easter holiday, myself and family certainly are. Thought we might head into Newcastle and I took it upon myself to pop around to the old NBN Studios, to see what’s been happening.
Not much but a fence, and boards, and removal of the broadcast tower in the carpark.

The WWOS studio in Sydney looks big enough for a game of footy…

Fantastic space, very versatile. Interested to see how they change the wooden panel on the right of the frame. It is removable, they took it away completely for the flood fundraiser, but it has also had the Stan logo on it and a love heart for Love Island.

Are there separate panels which they wheel in with different logos, or is it movable and they can attach different logos?

At least the wood panel would be removed and swapped out each time.

The Sydney 9 studio.

Not the best photos. This is/was ABC Melbourne’s pop up studio at Deakin Uni along the Geelong waterfront. I beleive they only used it in March but the signage is still here today. It’s kind of funny seeing a photo of the Geelong bollards but with an ABC Melbourne sign.

Are they still based out of 94.7 The Pulse studios or did they move their local journos to Deaking Uni too?

I didn’t know ABC had staff based in Geelong. They do have a facebook page called ‘ABC News Geelong’ but it doesn’t have regular posts. I just checked and the contact email for this page is Rachel Clayton, who appears to be based in Geelong, as most of her stories on ABC News website are about the Geelong area.

How bare does the ABQ2 tower looked in the 1970s ident! Just the Band 1 array and nothing else.
