And that they have a greater financial capacity to make them more protected against lightning strikes compared to regional and community radio/TV stations.

The Ten tower gets hit a lot. It’s nothing new and well suppressed.

It would be incredible.

Interesting, I would have expected at least a couple of seconds for issues. Must be pretty impressive gear.

One of my old TAFE Teachers used to talk about being up at Mt Barrow in Launceston several times during storms because sometimes they were stuck there and he said when things got struck you could see it like a Jacob’s Ladder going down some of the equipment. He said sometimes all you could do was sit on a chair with only one foot on the ground so there was no complete circuit. Would not want to be there if that was the case!

Is it possible that error correction in the signal would mask any momentary interruption caused by the lightning?

Nice view of the 10 and ABC towers form the 7News room. Resolution is good enough to make out the FM arrays on both towers.

Last photo there is 7’s tower, which had its upper section removed last year for safety reasons.

It’s listed in today’s AGE, that the paper is moving out of Media House and into GTV9s headquarters on Bourke Street, come this June.

Would have been better if it was the other way round. Media House is in a better location.

Would be a perfect location for HSV7 to move into.

Has anyone heard how the 4k broadcast testing is going in Brisbane? Is it finished yet?

Knox has that wrong. Seven and Nine will be paying substantially more than $1.

the court ruled that out, so yes - they’ll have to pay 33% of the valuation of the company.

Funny seeing the Nine logo tacked on there at the end of the building too!

Heard on the grapevine today, that seven have an agreement to stay put until 2025 at BCM. They might leave sooner, but there’s no rush to leave at this stage.

I’ve also heard that the new location will most likely be with the new AFL HQ near the Bolte Bridge. Not confirmed though.

Does that mean that the Joint Venture playout facility with Nine is no more?

So those 100 (or was it 300?) staff being “sacked”?

Are Seven running any broadcast teams/components outside BCM yet (apart from traffic which we know was sent offshore and affected about 50 or less).
