Broadcast Facilities

Amazing they made Martin place work. Considering it’s a large open space (newsroom was a mezzanine) imagine the acoustics would have been terrible.

This that a third mezzanine/ balcony further up?

Thanks for the photo.

I was actually there last Sunday too!

Noticed a Scissor lift and temporary fences blocking off the stairs on the side of the building, looked like they were doing work on the outside ceiling area potentially and as seen in your photo there, the “For Lease” signage is gone and there’s now red tape from the inside of the windows all the way around by the looks of it too from when I walked past :slightly_smiling_face:.

I also saw the Vivid set up next to and up against 52 Martin Place, thought it was bit of a funky cool light set up.

Something different.

It is amazing! Especially in a small space how much they could actually utlise it like they did. I may have said it before but I will always be interested to see what/how something new goes in there and how the space is used (if ever).

Even though Channel 7 has been gone for almost 2 years now, I’ll always enjoy going there just for the nostalgia/history/memories :slightly_smiling_face:.

I have always wondered if these wood things with the black circles on them were to split the levels or if it was to help with the acoustics/audio or what they were actually for as I know Channel 7 installed them in 2004 before they moved in.

Are they not Air Conditioning Vents?

Very appropriate that they’re next to a butcher shop.

Thats an insult to butcher’s ships. They’re useful and actually setve the community.

I have to agree 100% when all programming was live & local about 40 years ago I’d have a different attitude because local media actually did serve the community.

Had a look at the entrance of the former Seven Epping studios. I noticed that even in the dying days of the studio’s use they still had elements of the 99-2003 colour bar on a sign and boom gate.

Now that boom gate is the one to watch.

I remember seeing a map of the Mobbs Lane Studios a few years ago and saw they even had their own Diesel Bowser.

I wonder when the old HSV-7 building will start to be demolished (if it hasn’t started already). I say within the next twelve months.

What were Ultimo facility like?

The studio was minuscule. Like some sort of warehouse. They couldn’t fit an audience anywhere. That’s all I can recall.

I’ve heard “warehouse” mentioned before. I’m assuming only news and sports tonight were produced there? Most production were coming out of Melbourne during this time.
