Most people in LA will get by without broadcast TV because most have it delivered by cable. However, it has a big driving culture where broadcast radio is relied on; though there are plenty of other stations to choose from.
Though i wonder if any cable providers just retransmit the off air feed? So might be impacted too?
Multiple sources have reported that cable is not impacted by the outage.
That being said, relatively few consumers get their TV signal from a broadcast antenna, with most accessing the networks via cable, satellite or streaming options, which would not be impacted

While the station lost its signal transmission, digital streams of its morning newscasts were provided directly to cable and satellite TV operators, Disney-owned Hulu Live TV and other streaming apps.

Correct - the local ABC services were wiped out in that awful fire which led to a local community station agreeing to broadcast ABC Radio and it’s emergency warnings while the main signal was down.
Can’t remember if all or only some TV was impacted, but it definitely took a lot of services off air for some time.
Sure was! The whole facility was destroyed. Not sure if SBS was in that building, but ABC took a long time to get back on the air. It had a temporary arrangement with WIN (I think) to use one of its multichannels to broadcast the main ABC channel.
That’s right. Didn’t the ABC facilities burn down but the old GLV8 tower mostly survive? I remembered the commercial services fared better but couldn’t remember how much better.
