Transmission towers as seen from The Gap on Location, Location, Location. TVQ to the left ABQ to the right and QTQ in the distance.
Thats Location Location for you… excellent Brissie TV and FM right there.
Back in the 80s, some Newcastle real estate ads would list excellent Sydney TV reception as a selling point (in elevated suburbs with a good line of sight to the south).
In the days when then each stations transmitted from its own mast, there were some areas of The Gap that could not receive Nine because it was shielded by the mountain.
Maybe that’s why it’s called The Gap?
Nothing between 7 and 10.

On field setup for Rede Globo Brazil for the France v Brazil game at the women’s World Cup in Brisbane
That’s actually CazeTV:
How did you discover this?
i stand corrected. i was not able to zoom into see the name on the mic and assumed it was Globo given the things being said around me
No worries mate, love seeing these match broadcaster stuff!
Zoomed in on the mics and also thought that the outfits were probably too patriotic and casual for the national broadcaster. Then I just searched CazeTV on Google. ![]()
I actually did the same thing when you mentioned Caze Tv and I saw it on the mic.
It’s happened again! Not sure of the cause this time though
Went out about 20 minutes into the Logies and hasn’t come back yet…
UPDATE: Another fibre break
I was in Fyansford the other day and was demonstrating my camera and though that the Geelong transmitter in Highton would make a good photo:
The transmitter is located next to the Montpellier water basin, named after a former hotel near by.
Mt Dowe was fine & if this keeps going on I’d suggest that now might be a good time for them to install a switchable back-up taking the Off-Air signal from Dowe (just a thought) ![]()
Found myself in Perth last night so took a walk down to Nine Plaza. Dead quiet since all the news was coming from Brisbane.
Nice little screenburnt remnant of the previous graphics package on the desk.
How long has this been happening?/ Why was in coming from Brisbane?
No doubt to save money by employing one control room crew to do 2 separate bulletins covering 2 time zones.
Anyone been past the old Channel 7 Martin Place studio to see what it’s like now, now that it’s been almost a month since they officially stopped broadcasting from there?
I’m guessing the 7 sign has been pulled down and the ticker turned off and as a guess the black blinds would be down around the studio now its been / being emptied out?
Just curious is all !
All good if no-one’s been past it to see recently.
Thanks ![]()
Anyone know what they will do with the old set from Martin Place? Will it go to another city?
